My musings…

Two Wedding Crashers is the book I didn’t know I needed. It is rom-com PERFECTION. Truly. From the first page I was already laughing at the heroine’s outlandish and quirky commentary, I swooned over the flirtatious interactions between Beck and Rylee, and I fell in love with the romance of it all. I was swept away in this story, these people, and her words. I never wanted it to end.

Review to come Wednesday, but it is on Goodreads now.

I don’t know what love is anymore.

Well, that’s not entirely true, but I’m going to tell you a little secret: I’ve lost the spark.

You know the kind of spark I’m talking about?

Where butterflies take flight in your stomach from two hands innocently colliding. Or catching your breath when you first meet someone attractive. Yeah, that spark.

Except I haven’t felt that feeling in forever; there is nothing left inside of me.

Normally, this wouldn’t be a problem–but I’m a writer on a serious deadline, and my editor is breathing down my neck for a romantic, Nicholas Sparks type love story. No pressure, right?

That’s how I find myself flying across the country to crash a wedding in the name of research, dress and heels stuffed into my small suitcase.

It should be the easiest book research ever. Drinking some free champagne, basking in the love of two strangers, and tapping into my romantic side. That will be a breeze. I’m a pro. I can handle this.

Until I mistakenly end up in the wrong hotel room, naked as the day I was born, with the sexiest human I have ever met staring me down, wondering what I’m doing taking a shower in his bathroom. I don’t think calling it research will get me out of this pickle.

Melanie Harlow is one of my favorite writers.  She absolute knows how to balance the sweet and the steam, and she always hits the right amount of angst.  Her books never fail to entertain me, and Only You isn’t any different.

Full review to come tomorrow.

Nate Pearson is ridiculously handsome and wears the hell out of a suit and tie, but I’ve seen the parade of beautiful women leaving his apartment across the hall—a different one every time—and I want no part of it. When it comes to romance, I’m looking for something real, something that will last: the happily ever after.

As a divorce attorney, he loves to tell me there’s no such thing.

As a wedding planner, I choose to disagree.

We disagree on almost everything, in fact. Everything except James Bond. The only time we really get along is when we’re watching 007 flicks together, and I’ll admit—he has rescued me from a disaster or five. So when one of the baton twirlers from his parade leaves a baby girl at his door with a note that says “I’ll come back for her” and he begs me for help, I can’t turn him down.

But it’s a mistake.

Because watching him with his daughter, I start to see another side of Nate, a side that has my breath coming faster, my body craving his, my heart longing for him to change his mind about love and tell me there’s a chance for us.

I don’t want to be just another girl leaving his apartment in the morning.

I want to be the one he asks to stay.

These Morgan brothers! Lord, oh Lord how I love them. Captain (a standalone) was my very first Lauren Rowe book, and I ate it up. I fell in love with her writing. I fell in love with the second Morgan brother, and I have been dying for me.  Here he is! I am so freaking excited for it!

Full review to come tomorrow.

A standalone contemporary romance in the MORGAN BROTHERS SERIES from USA Today Bestselling Author Lauren Rowe. The story of firefighter Colby Morgan that proves heroes come in many forms . .

The first time I laid eyes on Lydia Decker, I couldn’t speak. Or breathe. Or string two coherent thoughts together.

And I don’t mean any of that figuratively.

I’m not talking about a guy being floored by the sight of a gorgeous woman—although, of course, Lydia is gorgeous beyond words.

No, when I first laid eyes on Lydia Decker—my physical therapist—I was lying flat on my back in the ICU, high as a kite on painkillers, breathing on a ventilator, my bones as broken and splintered as my spirit.

When I first laid eyes on Lydia Decker, she was a ray of light in the dark. Hope for the hopeless. A salve for my singed and battered soul.

She said she’d been assigned to fix me. That she was there to bring me back to life. She said helping me was her calling.

And then she touched me. Physically, emotionally, spiritually. She healed me.

And I fell in love.

But what I didn’t know . . . what I couldn’t possibly know . . . was that Lydia Decker needed fixing far more than I ever did.

I love Adriana Locke’s family series, and the mischievousness of the Gibson boys adds an extra element of fun to these already sweet and sexy series.  It is definitely a must read!

Full review to come on Wednesday.

They’re not quite enemies. Not really friends. More like frustrated balls of sexual tension and neither will give in.

Lance Gibson drives Mariah Malarkey absolutely crazy. He uses her office like a phone booth, takes cupcakes from the corner of her desk like she baked them just for him. She didn’t. Maybe she knew the history teacher happened to love peanut butter icing, but that was purely a coincidence. All sixteen times.

Mariah has a way of getting under Lance’s skin too. She calls him out on his crap, spoils him even if inadvertently, and seeing the librarian in skirts drives him wild. She won’t give in. It’s for the best, really, considering there’s no way he could lie to a woman like that and he’s not about to tell her the truth about himself. Not in a million years.

These two don’t hate each other. They don’t really like each other. But for this to be a friends-to-lovers story, they have to start somewhere, right?

Note: This can be read as a standalone novel.

Will be available in Kindle Unlimited.

Boy! Do I ever need the conclusion to this duet! The first book gutted me. It wasn’t an easy read. The characters weren’t easy to love, but they were real. Their love flawed. It is probably one of the realist romances I have read in some time, and in real life love is hard and imperfect. I cannot wait for it!

Review to come on THURSDAY

The anticipated conclusion in Claire Contreras’ Second Chances Duet . . .

Love isn’t always about timing.

Sometimes you have to throw caution to the wind and roll with it.
I admit I wasn’t ready.
I know you don’t want to look at me, let alone talk to me, but please, let me explain.
Let me tell you all the ways my heart broke when you walked away.
Let me show you what our years apart have done to me.

Give me a chance to find my way back to you . . .

Sierra Simone! God, I have been dying for more words from this woman! Her erotica never disappoints, and I love that it her stories push me out of my comfort zone and have me grapple with real issues. This series and how it weaves religion and sex together completely enthralls me.

Full review to come on Thursday.

I’m not a good man, and I’ve never pretended to be. I don’t believe in goodness or God or any happy ending that isn’t paid for in advance.

What do I believe in? Money. Sex. Macallan 18.

They have words for men like me—playboy. Womanizer. Skirt chaser.

My brother used to be a priest, and he only has one word for me.

I love A.M. Johnson’s writing style.  It is beautiful and poetic, so I am very excited to see her tackle a sports romance.  I personally love hockey sport romances.  It is truly only rivaled by the football sport romance trope. It is going to be so good!
Full review to come on Thursday.
