#RepeatWorthy “Bright Side” by Kim Holden

IMG_4824 My musings…

I literally just happened to come across this book on the lock screen of my Kindle.  After seeing it for the third or fourth time, I decided to head over to Goodreads and check it out, and it was one of the best book decisions I have ever made!

This book is sad and beautiful and filled with universal themes that every person can and should apply to his or her life.  The idea of living in the moment, in the present, and taking life by storm permeates throughout the story.  The characters actions and words and the plot development of Bright Side clearly show the importance of embracing the life you are living right now and making the most of the time we have given to us.  More than the themes of this book, the language utilized by Kim Holden is touching and moved me emotionally, and I am not generally moved to tears by books.  But this book, this book, had me weeping openly with the beauty  of her words and the story she told.

If you have not read this book, you need to put it on your TBR, your wish-list, just something.  This book is truly one of the greats!

brightside My musings…

Secrets.
Everyone has one.
Some are bigger than others.
And when secrets are revealed,
Some will heal you …
And some will end you.

Kate Sedgwick’s life has been anything but typical. She’s endured hardship and tragedy, but throughout it all she remains happy and optimistic (there’s a reason her best friend Gus calls her Bright Side). Kate is strong-willed, funny, smart, and musically gifted. She’s also never believed in love. So when Kate leaves San Diego to attend college in the small town of Grant, Minnesota, the last thing she expects is to fall in love with Keller Banks.

They both feel it.
But they each have a reason to fight it.
They each have a secret.

And when secrets are revealed,
Some will heal you …
And some will end you.
