It’s been a hot minute since I’ve read a J. Sterling book. I loved her Fisher Brother’s Series, so I was all about this. J has always had a perfect balance of angst and humor that interlace throughout her books effortlessly and this book is no different. I loved Cole and Christina their connection was evident and intrinsic. From the opening chapter you could feel it burst from the pages and set the tone for a beautifully written romance.

“Why haven’t you guys ever gotten together?” he asked. “We have,” I argued, sounding like an angry lunatic.

I loved Cole he was the perfect juxtaposition of possessive and vulnerable wearing both like armor. Cole is just trying to figure out how to balance the things in want’s in life, and yes, he did a piss pour job of it but he’s a College kid so what do you expect. What I loved most was that once he figured it out, he went for it at full speed. He didn’t mind humbling himself and accepting what he did that warranted the situation they ended up in. It takes a strong man to admit when he was wrong and accept the consequences of that. Cole did just that in order for Christina to accept his truth and know that this was what he wanted.

Watching him with her was like throwing gasoline on my guts. I was afraid to breathe too hard, worried it might come out in flames. Watch me burn it all down motherfuckers.

I really felt for Christina she had to endure so much even before her and Cole became anything more than what they were. The snide remarks from the jealous girls on campus are enough to make the strongest female fall, but she didn’t, Christina kept her head high and when she started mouthing off back, I was right there cheering her on! The dynamics between Cole and Christina and their overall banter were delightful to watch it definitely had you cheering them on.

The need to be with Christina consumed me like a fire with no help in sight. It raged, devouring everything in its path until there was nothing left to burn.

J. Sterling hit one out of the park with this book, Cole and Christina will have your heart aching with their passion and undeniable connection. And the angst level is the perfect combination that brings this story to knew depths. I devoured this book in one sitting, furiously burning through page after page to find out what’s going to happen next. This is a definite Must Read!!!

The Ninth Inning by J. Sterling Release & Review

Synopsis:

Cole Anders is in his last season at Fullton State. If he doesn’t get drafted this year, he’ll be forced to hang up his cleats for good. It’s not something he’s ready to do.

To prove he’s serious about his final season, he’s given up girls. No more casual hookups, dates or one-night stands. But there’s one girl who has always refused to give up on him. One girl who has been there since the start of Freshman year. One girl he stupidly assumed would always be waiting for him when he got off the field, no matter how long it took.

Christina’s had enough of Cole pushing her aside for baseball. She’s grown tired of waiting for him to see what she’s known since they were freshmen… that they are good together. She’s finally moved on- for good this time.

Cole has other ideas, but she refuses to cave. It’s not her problem if he wants her now. Too little too late.

There comes a point in your life when you have to stop the incessant merry-go-round and just get off the ride, right? Try telling that to Cole.

About J. Sterling

J. Sterling

My goal is to write books that you can get lost in and stories that will leave you with a smile and a full heart. If you can forget about the real world while you’re reading and fall in love with my characters, then I’ve done my job. A lot of what I write has real life aspects in it, but that’s what makes the stories so relatable- the fact that they could happen to anyone… and have!

I live in California with my son, Blake. If you can’t find me sitting behind a computer screen, then there’s a good chance I’m sitting in the bleachers of a baseball stadium watching him play. I love traveling to new places, meeting my readers and spending time with the love of my life, my very own second chance romance, who inspires me daily.

I know you have a million books to choose from and I am humbled, grateful and thankful each time you choose to read one of mine, or tell someone else to read them. Thank you.
