I’m going to do #TBT a little different this week. Usually, I only select a book that I like to go back a re-read. It is a book whose characters and/or their stories have stuck with me. It is a book whose gotten me out of the dreaded book slump. Since some of my favorite releases from my favorite authors are happening next week, I am going to highlight one of the many books I would go back and read again and again from their published books.
This is the first book I ever read by Penelope Ward, and I did so because I read Cocky Bastard, which she co-wrote with Vi Keeland. The synopsis for Roomhate also sounded amazing, so I thought I would give it a try. Lord, oh Lord, I was not disappointed in the least. The story and the characters are great, and I became so invested in the characters that my heart ached for the them. I found myself on the verge of tears or gasping in shock. I started this when my girls went to bed at 9:00 PM and stayed up all night to finish it. I am pretty sure I was a zombie the next day at school, but do I regret it? Not in the least. It is the perfect enemies to lovers book.
“Sometimes the thing we fear more than anything, is really what our soul craves the most.” ~Penelope Ward, Roomhate
From New York Times Bestselling Author, Penelope Ward, comes a new standalone novel.
Sharing a summer house with a hot-as-hell roommate should be a dream come true, right?
Not when it’s Justin…the only person I’d ever loved…who now hates me.
When my grandmother died and left me half of the house on Aquidneck Island, there was a catch: the other half would go to the boy she helped raise.
The same boy who turned into the teenager whose heart I broke years ago.
The same teenager who’s now a man with a hard body and a hardass personality to match.
I hadn’t seen him in years, and now we’re living together because neither one of us is willing to give up the house.
The worst part? He didn’t come alone.
I’d soon realize there’s a thin line between love and hate. I could see through that smug smile. Beneath it all…the boy is still there. So is our connection.
The problem is…now that I can’t have Justin, I’ve never wanted him more.
Author’s note – RoomHate is a full-length standalone novel. Due to strong language and sexual content, this book is not intended for readers under the age of 18.
Single father fighting for his career. First female GM of his hockey program. What is not to love about this? The characters are fantastic. Not only is Ryker just as wonderful as his predecessors Alex, Garrett, and Zack, but he also has the element of being a wonderful father. This just makes his swoon factor go up considerably. Then there is Gray, and she is everything I love in a heroine: strong, smart, independent, brave, and so much more. On top of great characters, Sawyer Bennett gives you a great story. I loved every single minute of this ride. If you love a sports romance, this series is definitely one you should check out.
“But no one—and I repeat no one—plays with my lady balls. That just won’t do.” ~Sawyer Bennett, “Ryker”
The stakes have never been higher for Carolina Cold Fury goalie Ryker Evans. With his contract running out, he’s got a year left to prove he’s still at the top of his game. And since his wife left him, Ryker has been balancing life as a pro-hockey star and a single parent to two daughters. Management is waiting for him to screw up. The fans are ready to pounce. Everybody’s taking dirty shots—except for the fiery redhead whose faith in Ryker gives him a fresh start.
As the league’s only female general manager, Gray Brannon has learned not to mix business with pleasure. And yet even this tough, talented career woman can’t help breaking her own rules as she gives Ryker everything she’s got. She hopes their hot streak will last forever, but with Ryker’s conniving ex plotting to reclaim her man, the pressure’s on Gray to step up and save a tender new love before it’s too late.
**This is book 4 in the Cold Fury series. It can be read as a stand-alone.
I loved every single thing about this series. The complexity of the story, the whole plot of the four books while also giving each sibling their own books, is just amazing! The suspense, the mystery, the sweet and dirty relationships of the Sloane family with their significant others just created perfection. If you haven’t read the series. Do it! It is simply fantastic, and it made me a Lauren Blakely fan for life!
The reason I selected this book is because it is a second-chance romance. Annalise and Michael had this hot and dirty, yet sweet and vulnerable relationship that was just endearing. I quickly became invested in their HEA. More than my love of the couple and their story, this book reveals of the answers to the crime they are trying to solve, and, boy, was it an epic reveal. If you are looking for a little mystery and suspense with your romance, this series is absolutely for you!
“Maybe I don’t just want the before,” she whispered, her accent thicker, the way it sounded when she was turned on. “I want the after, too.”
Intense. Devoted. Protective.
Michael Sloan is all of the above, with a hard tough edge to boot. He’s not the guy he used to be. Years ago, before all the s&%t went down, he was laidback, carefree, and even happy-go-lucky.
Life changed him. Hardened him.
There’s one woman though who can break down his walls. Someone who knew him then. Who can reach inside to that heart he protects fiercely…because she’s the only one he ever gave it to. When they collide, it’s tender and savage, gentle and rough, and makes them both hungry for more of this electric, once-in-a-blue moon kind of sexual chemistry. But it’s a battle of wills between Michael and the woman he loves, with words and emotions held close to the vest.
She doesn’t believe she can ever move on from her own heartbreak, but when Michael makes her feel for the first time in years, it’s both thrilling and scares the hell out of her, setting off all her flight instincts. He’s determined not to lose her again, but he’ll have to learn to let her in if he ever wants to fully heal from the past…
The problem is, she knows something about the night his family shattered. She has the missing puzzle piece…but neither one of them realizes it.
SINFUL LOVE is the fourth and final book in the steamy, sexy, suspenseful New York Times Bestselling Sinful Nights series from Lauren Blakely, author of the wildly popular Seductive Nights series…
