Raw by Belle Aurora was this book I kept looking at. I kept seeing the cover, clicking the “read more” button to skim the summary, and then running away from it. I had really just recently started reading romance novels again, and I just wasn’t sure that I could handle this dark and gritty book. It drew me in, but also scared the crap out of me. So, instead of reading Raw, I chose to read her Friend-Zoned series, which I love and you should read if you haven’t yet, and really fell in love with her prose. Her characters aree flawed and complex, and her plots contain enough suspense and intrigue to make me want to forget all my adult responsibilities. My love of her writing only led me back to Raw when I was finished with the Friend-Zoned series, and I decided to read at least the sample. Well, I can tell you that the sample was more than enough to convince me that I needed to read this book, and I never looked back.
Raw is everything I shouldn’t want. The debauchery alone should have made me run, but I felt like I was getting a glimpse into an world I will never know. Criminal. Stalker. Violent. These are not the words to describe a hero, but by the end of the book, I didn’t care. Twitch has every single one of the attributes. He isn’t a hero and never pretends to be, but that didn’t stop my love for him or his story. In fact, I often found myself agreeing with ideas he spouted, and then I would be like Wait! What? There is no way I should be agreeing with such a corrupt character, but ultimately I did. His ideas about the world are pretty much spot-on. Additionally Belle Aurora does a fantastic job of balancing his hard and violent side with his caring side, making it inevitable that the reader will fall in love with him, even though it shouldn’t happen. Then we have the heroine, Lexi. It was amazing to see her develop as a character and break through these label barriers she has lived under her whole life. I also like that she changes him too.
This plot is unreal! My reactions during the book were as follows: What? No! He wouldn’t. He is going to!! I can’t look (hiding behind my hands while reading my Kindle)! He can’t really do that? He is going to do it! Wow! I am not sure I should have found that to be hot (Check over my shoulder to see if anyone can read my Kindle)! Heart being torn in two. No!!!! Why did that happen? This can’t be the end, no way! AHHHHH!!!! What the heck just happened? I then scrambled onto Goodreads to see if there was a sequel! Thankfully, there is going to be one, and it is releasing soon-ish.
I wish I could accurately put into words how much I love this author and this book! This book and author opened my romance world up to the dark and gritty, and I have never looked back. It has become one of my favorite romance sub-genres and reading Raw is fully responsible for my tumble down this rabbit hole.
Honestly, if you have not read this story, you need to do it now before the next one comes out, and if you haven’t read anything by Belle Aurora that needs to be rectified ASAP. I love, love, love her stories and have never read anything less than a 4 CROWN book from her. She should definitely be on the must-read list.

***Author Note: This is not a love story. This is a story of love gone wrong.***
Growing up the way I did, you’d think I’d be more screwed up than what I actually am. Soon as I turned sixteen, I left that bump in the road I called home and took my chances on the street. Best decision I ever made. Now, at the age of twenty six, I’m educated, employed and damn good at my job. My friends have become my family. Like me, they know what it’s like to grow up unloved. But the saying is true. The world makes way for those who know where they are going. That’s me. I know where I’m going and I’ll get there eventually. On my own terms and at my own pace. But then there’s him. I feel his eyes on me. I see him hiding in plain sight. He watches me. He makes me feel. It’s unconventional. But it’s real. I’m sure you’re wondering how a person falls in love with their stalker. So am I. This isn’t a story. This is my life.
