I am going to be honest here and admit that I did not love Violet when I first met her in Pucked. So, you may be wondering why I would choose a character I didn’t initially like as my #WCW. Well, I grew to love Violet and all her inappropriate behavior and no-filter mouth during Forever Pucked. Her ability to care and want to protect the people that she loves while being true to herself makes her character incredibly worthy of being showcased today.
Why do I love her?
In Forever Pucked, the reader gets to see Violet interact with her friends, and this is what ultimately made me love her. I even tweeted Helena Hunting about how Violet’s interactions with her friends reminded me of my daily lunches with my group of friends. And, isn’t that what good writing and good character development does? It should be relatable to the reader, and for the first time I could relate to her. The jokes and inappropriate discussions just became so similar to the discussions I have with my friends. I also saw how Violet truly cares about the people she loves. Whether it is making costumes for the Super MC and her Beaver or yelling at puck bunnies at games, Violet is there for the people she loves, which is just another reason that I grew to love her as a heroine.
My favorite memories of Violet:
- Yelling at the puck bunnies
- Her crazy reactions to wedding talk
- Scratching Alex’s car
- Her reaction to his injury (this event crushed my soul)
- Helping Alex heal (while simultaneously healing me)
- The wedding
- The epilogue
- Buying Sex toys
- Area 51
I know that these are vague, but, for those of you that haven’t read it, I didn’t want to ruin not only the awesomeness of Violet but also the wonderful story of Forever Pucked.
If you haven’t had the chance to read the Pucked series, check out my recommendation page for a link to all four books. This is truly one of my favorite series. The writing is stellar, the characters will make you laugh out loud, and it’s about hockey players and their women. What more could a reader ask for?
Being engaged to Alex Waters, team captain and the highest paid NHL player in the league, is awesome. How could it not be?
In addition to being an amazing hockey player, he’s an incurable romantic with an XL heart, and an XXL hockey stick in his pants. And he knows how to use it. Incredibly, orgasmically well. Alex is the whole package and more. Literally. Like his package is insane. Total world record holder material.
So it makes complete sense that Violet Hall can’t wait to nail him down to the matrimonial mattress and become Mrs. Violet Waters.
It’s so romantic.
Violet is totally stoked to set a date.
Eventually. At some point. Likely before the next millennium. Or when Violet stops getting hives every time someone brings up the wedding, and their mothers stop colluding on stadium sized venues. Whichever comes first.
