Sarah’s Musings..

5 CURSED CROWNS

Charleigh Rose lured me in with the promise of sexy, daredevil hero, a gaggle of hot secondary characters, wrong side of the track romance, and the mystery of the carnival and a curse, and holy Lord in heaven, did she deliver.

From the minute Sebastian and Evan meet, the chemistry between them sizzles and pops. It is not hard to believe that she would follow this seemingly dangerous stunt man for a night of fun. Heck, I wanted to go, too. From there their lives intersect and we get to see these characters evolve over several years.

Sebastian fully comes into his own as a dominant/alpha-ish male who goes to any lengths to protect Evan. His internal struggle with the supposed curse and his ever growing feelings for her more than make up for his often belligerent behavior. Charleigh Rose softens his character with the private moments he steals with Evan. Through these moments readers see there is more to him and to the life he lives, evoking sympathy and even admiration for his trials.

Evan is a tough chick. From the moment we meet her, she is set on survival. Her instincts to do whatever she need to do in order to survive hardens her a bit, but just enough to get through life. Through her, we come to love not only Sebastian but the rest of the McCallisters and the dysfunctional family that makes up the carnival. Ultimately, I loved Evan’s grit, her determination to live life for herself and with who she wants.

This story is filled with mystery, suspense, dirty taking heroes and so much more. Readers get to see that even if our destiny is planned that we can love each moment we have in the sun, and that maybe, just maybe, we can alter our fate, change the course, give ourselves the HEA we deserve. It has every single thing I love in a book.

All I truly know is at the end of this book, I didn’t want to leave this world. There is a whole host of characters, not just the Sons of Eastlake, to write about and hope Charleigh is inspired to stay in this world.

ARC received in exchange for an honest review

Synopsis:
Evangeline Thorne is privileged.
Beautiful and popular, if not a little jaded.
A chance encounter with a green-eyed stuntman sets off a chain of events that turns her perfect, little world upside down.
Short on options and desperate for adventure, she joins the traveling carnival for the summer.
Thrust into a world full of drama, deception, and secrecy, Evangeline tries to find herself and protect her heart in the process.

Sebastian McAllister is cursed.
He knows better than to think otherwise.
He’s content to live out the rest of his life traveling the country as one of the four Sons of Eastlake, seeking thrills the only way he knows how.
The one thing he doesn’t see coming is the spoiled blond with stars in her eyes.
The only problem is, the more time he spends with her, the more hope starts to stir in his dormant heart.

Too bad hope is a dangerous thing when you’re a McAllister.

Happy reading,
