This week I am excited to read and/or share these four books with you. Check back throughout the week in order to see my reviews and other book news.
I really enjoyed this book. Shane and Emily are incredibly complex. Shane is walking a tightrope as he tries to purge his family’s company of corruption while maintaining his morality, and Emily is running from a past that could eventually find her and alter her future with Shane. Their relationship is definitely one of push and pull, but instead of annoying, I found it to be one of the best parts of the story. I will be posting my full review on this book later this week, and, for full disclosure, this is book one in a duet.
The only man within the Brandon empire with a moral compass, Shane Brandon is ready to take his family’s business dealings legitimate. His reckless and ruthless brother, Derek wants to keep Brandon Enterprises cemented in lies, deceit, and corruption. But the harder Shane fights to pull the company back into the light, the darker he has to become. Then he meets Emily Stevens, a woman who not only stirs a voracious sexual need in him, but becomes the only thing anchoring him between good and evil.
Emily is consumed by Shane, pushed sexually in ways she never dreamed of, falling deeper into the all-encompassing passion that is this man. She trusts him. He trusts her, but therein lies the danger. Emily has a secret, the very thing that brought her to him in the first place, and that secret that could that destroy them both.

M. O’Keefe can write suspense like few others. The first two books I read by her, Everything I Left Unsaid (only .99¢) and The Truth About Him, were fantastic. The story kept me engaged from the very first page, her characters are complex, and I love her writing style. I will be starting this book today, and I cannot wait to share my thoughts with you.
The only thing that matters to me is rescuing my sister from the drug-cooking cult that once enslaved us both. I’ve run cons my whole life, and I’ll use my body to get whatever I need. Max Daniels is the last connection I have to that world, the one person reckless enough to get involved. Besides, now that his brothers have turned on him, he needs me too.
The deal was supposed to be simple: a place to hide in exchange for rescuing my sister. Now he’s my prisoner. Totally at my mercy. But I’m the one captivated. Enthralled. Doing everything he asks of me until I’m not sure who’s in control.
We both crave the heat. The more it hurts, the better. But what if Max wants a different life now, to leave the game . . . to love me? I thought I knew better than to get burned. Now I’m in too deep to pull away. And the crazy thing is . . . I don’t want to.
I really love this new series from Kristen Proby. It follows a group girls who are independent and successful. I also love that they are supportive of each other. This second book in the series was just as enjoyable as the first book, Listen to Me. This read is sweet, romantic, and very low on the angst, a fantastic summer beach read. You will smile the whole way through the story, and Landon is the perfect book-boyfriend. I would highly recommend this series. My full review of this book will be coming later this week, too!
Camilla, “Cami,” LaRue was five-years-old when she first fell in love with Landon Palazzo. Everyone told her the puppy love would fade—they clearly never met Landon. When he left after graduation without a backward glance, she was heartbroken. But Cami grew up, moved on, and became part-owner of wildly popular restaurant Seduction. She has everything she could want…or so she thinks.
After spending the last twelve years as a Navy fighter pilot, Landon returns to Portland to take over the family construction business. When he catches a glimpse of little Cami LaRue, he realizes she’s not so little any more. He always had a soft spot for his little sister’s best friend, but nothing is soft now when he’s around the gorgeous restauranteur.
Landon isn’t going to pass up the chance to make the girl-next-door his. She’s never been one for romance, but he’s just the one to change her mind. Will seduction be just the name of her restaurant or will Cami let him get close enough to fulfill all her fantasies?
I pre-ordered this book the minute it was available. Why? Well, of course, because it is written be Renee Carlino. Her writing is always flawless and emotional. Her books are guaranteed to stir all kinds of emotions in her reader, and I cannot wait for this book to come out to devour it!
When a bestselling debut novel from mysterious author J. Colby becomes the literary event of the year, Emiline reads it reluctantly. As an adjunct writing instructor at UC San Diego with her own stalled literary career and a bumpy long-term relationship, Emiline isn’t thrilled to celebrate the accomplishments of a young and gifted writer.
Yet from the very first page, Emiline is entranced by the story of Emerson and Jackson, two childhood best friends who fall in love and dream of a better life beyond the long dirt road that winds through their impoverished town in rural Ohio.
That’s because the novel is patterned on Emiline’s own dark and desperate childhood, which means that “J. Colby” must be Jase: the best friend and first love she hasn’t seen in over a decade. Far from being flattered that he wrote the novel from her perspective, Emiline is furious that he co-opted her painful past and took some dramatic creative liberties with the ending.
The only way she can put her mind at ease is to find and confront “J. Colby,” but is she prepared to learn the truth behind the fiction?
