4 HEAVENLY CROWNS
Lucian Divine is a unique and beautiful romance focusing on the ultimate forbidden romance, as well as the consuming and nature of love.
The charisma and charm of these characters, particularly Lucian, will engage readers from the first page. As a guardian angel, it is Lucian’s job to protect Evey, but as he spends more time watching over her, he cannot help the attraction he feels toward her. He participates in some questionable and rebellious activities in an attempt to forget his feelings, but as with any epic love, he can’t avoid her or his feelings for long. Lucian is truly everything the synopsis says he is: witty, brilliant, and warm. Watching Evey and him come together and fight against the odds will endear readers to him, causing them to love all facets of this troubled angel. Evelyn, the heroine of the story, is a typical mid-twenties woman. She is looking for love, is trying to find her footing in her career, and is trying to establish herself. What I love most about her is that Renée Carlino wrote her character in way that makes her completely relatable. The readers will see themselves in her, feeling what she feels and desiring what she desires. Readers will yearn for Lucian in the way she does, creating for them a need for her to get her happy ending with him.
When these characters come together, love permeates the room, nothing but pure care and adoration. It infiltrates every act, every word, and every thought. Renée Carlino leaves no doubt that this love is EPIC, and that there is no way for them to walk away. Their love defies all the odds and rules, and even when they try to forget and walk away, they can’t. Their feelings continue to pull the back together, and pull readers further into their story.
Watching this couple come together and fall in love is a true joy. The forbidden relationship aspect of the story adds to the conflict to the story, but what makes the story much more interesting is the unknown. What happens to angels who fall in love with humans and act on it is a question that is not answered until the end, and as the story progresses, readers get to see it in action. They are piecing together those parts of the story along with the characters, and while it doesn’t seem like it is going to have a happy ending, the reader still hopes that these two will be able to get past the biggest obstacles to find a way to be together.
Lucian Divine is pure heaven and the quintessential romance, showcasing the power of love and the selfish and selfless acts of those in love. From the moment I opened this book I became captivated by these characters, their story, and Ms. Carlino’s words. Truly, this story will captivate readers’ hearts!
Side Note: I generally do not read paranormal romances. It just isn’t a predilection of mine; however, I loved this book. Even though he is an angel, the romance, love, and devotion take center stage. So even if you aren’t a paranormal lover, you should still check it out!

“My guardian angel is a drunk.”
Evelyn Casey’s life is at a standstill. She’s in her mid-twenties, struggling with the dating scene in San Francisco. Nothing seems to be working out, and she’s starting to think that she’ll live out her days in her crummy apartment with her overbearing roommate, Brooklyn. It’s absurd, but sometimes Evey longs for a guardian angel to show up and save the day.
And then he does. Seriously. His name is Lucian and he’s a guardian angel, been on the job for two thousand years. His sudden presence in her life is both good—he’s brilliant, witty, and warm—and bad—he’s brilliant, witty, warm, and hot as —-. But as perfect as Lucian seems, he’s got problems of his own. He’s taken up drinking and he’s brazenly inserted himself into Evey’s life, going against the greatest cosmic law ever created.
For Evey, the rules are simple: You are not allowed to hook up with your guardian angel. But sometimes fulfilling your destiny requires a leap of faith, a confrontation with God.
Yes, God as in God.
