My musings…

5 I Feel Ya CROWNS

This is now my second book I have read by M. Robinson, and there are several aspects of her writing I know to be true.

1. She will play with your emotions, often leaving the reader completely gutted.  But her ability to emotionally connect her readers to the story and her characters is unparalleled.
2. Her men! Readers should hate them, but readers don’t. They are vicious, lethal, sexy as heck, and everything you shouldn’t want in a bad man, but readers do.

3. Her stories are like a vortex, sucking you in and never letting you go.  I want to slink into a reading cave and hang a do not disturb sign every time I get my hands on one of her books.
Specifically with Road to Nowhere, readers encounter the type of characters they have come to expect from M. Robinson.  Mia, our heroine, is fiesty, strong, struggling for independence.  She knows what she wants and goes for it.  Her confidence, her zest for life, her unwavering love for a particular character, and her reactions to certain plot developments make her easy to love.  Even though she is fifteen, her maturity and personality don’t read that way, which goes to help with the age gap between Creed and Mia. The hero, Creed, will slowly destroy readers’ hearts.  With each passing page, with each blow dealt to this boy who readers watch become a man, their hearts will ache for him.  Watching his soul being slowly stripped away, chipped at my heart, making me ache for all he had lost, because even though he is violent and has done atrocious acts, the reader can tell deep in his soul that he is a good guy, a guy with fighting for and loving. Readers desperately want that for him.  We want him, just like Mia to see his worth and value and that he is capable of being more than his own perception of who he is.  He begins to show this at the end, resulting in readers seeing him as Mia sees him, and M. Robinson gives us no choice but to love these two characters apart and together. This story will suck you in from the page one, just like her other stories.  They are so many layers parts, so many twists and turns that readers are always left to ponder when she is going to give her surprise plot twist, which always completely makes readers second guess everything they thought they knew.  Road to Nowhere is just another example of this. In this story alone, there is the relationship between Creed and Mia, particularly the forbidden nature of it all, the MC problems, the interactions with Martinez, the secret information, and so much more!! I could go on and on! All of these layers, all of these conflicts could easily lead to a disjointed and disconnected plot, but M. Robinson weaves all of these story lines into one tight and concise plot.  The ending, oh that ending, it is going to rock readers’ worlds!  I had to go back and re-read it, because I couldn’t process it, and I couldn’t let it go.  It left my mind reeling, and I scrambled to see when the next book is coming out.  Now I sit and anxiously await the next book for the conclusion of Mia and Creed’s story.

Road to Nowhere is simply pure angsty, dramatic romance in all of its glory! With each book I read, M. Robinson moves farther up my must read author list.  This world she has created, the characters she has developed, the stories filled with angst and violence, and so much steam readers will fall in love every time.  Personally, she guts me every time, but I can’t stop.  So if you haven’t picked up Road to Nowhere, get to it, but be warned, Creed and Mia will leave you wanting more.
ARC received in exchange for an honest review.

I once read that every warrior hoped an honorable death
would find him. I always went looking for mine, but not even the Reaper wanted
me.
I was trained to kill. I was trained to not ask why. To take
orders and just march in line. Hooah motherfucker.
Life or death.
Ride or die.
And I’m not only talking about the military. I’m talking
about the life that led me on the road to nowhere.
My life.
I fought for my brothers.
I fought for my family.
I fought for my country.
And I fought for her…
Never realizing I might die for them too.

  1. I’m not sure how I feel about the age difference factor, especially because I tend not to enjoy romances involving teenagers, but your review has me intrigued. Creed sounds like my kind of guy.

    • I fully understand that. I generally stay away from anything that is a teenager and adult. He meets her when she is 9, and it is platonic. It slowly evolves into more for him, and M. Robinson writes both characters in a way that I forgot about the age difference until I was reminded of it.

  2. Great review..and I loved this book..I’ve read the entire series now and I can say I am definitely a fan..

  3. Any news when the next book is coming out?? Omg cant wait. 😭😭😭
