5 Free Me CROWNS

Utter Perfection.  I loved every single minute of this series, and Sawyer Bennett gives a phenomenal conclusion to Beck and Sela’s story with Sugar Free.

The characters of this story, Beck and Sela in particular, are still the same people the reader falls in love with in Sugar Daddy & Sugar Rush.  Beck is still supportive, kind, honorable and completely hot in the bedroom. Although his thoughts are a tad darker, his character development completely makes sense for the progression of the story.  Sela is still as strong as ever as she continues trying to right her wrongs and protect the people she loves.  There are times I was angry or frustrated with them, but I understand that decisions they made and the actions they took.  And, even though I wanted them to be smarter concerning certain events, I could see myself doing the same exact thing if I was in their situation.  There is also a certain scene between Sela and Beck that some readers may be offended or upset by, but I wasn’t.  Throughout the whole scene, Beck is constantly paying attention to Sela, and she engages in the act with him.  It is also a pattern for them that has been established in the previous two books, so it jives with how the author has developed them and only serves to exemplify the passion they have for each other and the desperation they feel for the situation they are in together.  And, the mark of a truly good story is to get an emotional reaction from the reader, and Sawyer Bennett certainly achieves this.  So many times, I sat staring at the screen trying to process what had just occurred.  She certainly created two main characters that just sucked this reader into their story.

More than these characters, this series had me falling in love with the little family they created together.  Dennis, Caroline, Ally, William, Maria are all fantastic characters, and they all warmed my heart in this story.  I felt sad to leave them, as though they were my own group of people to love.  Their appearances in the epilogue made me happy, but also sad to leave them behind as well.whiteknight

The plot of this story is just too great for words.  It is the conclusion of the series, and Sawyer Bennett starts off with a bang.  Of course the reader knows some of the plot developments that will occur, but the author is still able to throw in some surprises, truly blind-siding me, and although some people may think the resolution is wrapped up too easily, I disagree.  The solution to their conflict makes sense with the plot structure established by the author in the other two books, and it really wraps up the story in a way that makes the reader happy as well as makes sense with the plot of the previous two books.  Finally, that epilogue is completely EPIC! I made my heart light and happy, there are truly no characters more deserving of this ending than Beck and Sela.

Sawyer Bennett is one of my favorites, and the Sugar Bowl series will be going down as one of my top series ever!  It is hot, suspenseful, romantic, just everything, and I will certainly be returning to visit these characters and their story again, as this will be going on my re-read pile.

The Sugar Bowl Series is a romantic suspense trilogy, and cannot be read as standalones.

ARC received in exchange for an honest review.

sugarfreeSynopsis:

Sela and Beck’s deliciously sinful tale of sex, lies, and vengeance reaches its explosive conclusion in the final chapter of Sawyer Bennett’s Sugar Bowl trilogy, which began with the novels Sugar Daddy and Sugar Rush. For years Sela Halstead dreamed of revenge, but the quest for payback has been anything but sweet. Now, once again, she finds herself at the mercy of Jonathon Townsend, his hands crushing the very breath from her body. And even though she escapes with her life, Sela fears she may never recover. In desperate needof shelter and comfort, she runs to the one man she can trust. Beckett North has stood by Sela since the beginning. But can he handle the brutal truth? Beck will do anything to protect what is his—and make no mistake, Sela belongs to him, heart and soul. The passion between them runs hot, even as their world begins to unravel. With the legacy of his ruthless business partner hanging in the balance, Beck stands to lose everything: his fortune, his family, his freedom. But each touch of Sela’s mouth on his skin, her nails down his back, makes it harder to let her go—and it might not even be his choice to make.
