 My Musings…

4 Dog Loving CROWNS

The Foxe and the Hound by R.S. Grey is another sweet, light, and fun romance that would be perfect for a relaxing day on the beach.  Low on the angst and high on the antics, this endearing romance is a treat.

This is another novel where the heroine really made the story for me. I loved that Madeleine is kind of a mess and is struggling to get her footing in the adult world, even as an 27 year old.  More than that though is her reaction to all her mishaps.  She never backs down or falters in dedication to be successful and make her own way, and, although she wavers with Adam, her insecurities explain this and make these uncertainties of hers endearing.  I really just loved everything about her character, and I think readers will as well.

Adam is another likable character who is a little bit broken from his past, causing him to erect some walls.  My favorite moments with him, though, stem from his time and interactions with Madeleine and Mouse.  This is where his personality really comes out and readers get to see more of his character.

The development and pacing of this story is okay.  While there is a lot of build up between the “I’m not ready to date” part of the story and the actual “we are together” part of the story, it lacked the normal chemistry I have come to expect in a R.S. Grey book.  The transition between these two stages lacked significance, which led to a decent conflict and resolution.  There is tons of humor that will make readers laugh, and Mouse is the perfect comedic relief for tense and emotional situations.  From a development of plot and character perspective, the choices made by the author and the direction of the story make sense, but at the end of the day the story was devoid of that spark I have come to expect between the characters.

If you are looking for a fun and low-angst romance, The Foxe and the Hound is what you are looking for.  Each moment is entertaining, and it is filled with a likable hero and heroine and one crazy dog that is sure to win your heart like he does with everyone else in the book.

When your life is a hot mess at twenty, it’s cute. At twenty-seven…well, not so much.

It’s just that my lofty dreams—making it as a real estate agent, paying rent on time, showering daily—have stayed just that: dreams. Oh, and love? I’ve decided love might be a little ambitious for me at the moment. Instead, I’ve settled for the two guys who will never leave me: Ben & Jerry.

That is, until Dr. Adam Foxe takes up residence as the town’s new vet.

With his strong jaw, easy confidence, and form-fitting scrubs, it’s not long before every housewife in Hamilton is dragging neglected tomcats in for weekly checkups.

Like everyone else, I’m intrigued. Even after I spoil my chance at a good first impression, he still offers me a proposition I can’t refuse: play his girlfriend at a family function and he’ll hire me as his real estate agent. Welcome to love in the 21st century.

It’s too bad I underestimated Adam’s irresistible charm and the undeniable attraction that burns between us. The day he pins me to the wall and silences me with a kiss, the line between reality and ruse begins to blur. Every teasing touch brings me to my knees. Every kiss promises more.

It looks like my hot mess of a life is about to get a little hotter.

Happy reading,

  1. I really enjoyed Adam and Madeleine’s story, but I wished the ending had been a little different. I love epilogues and I really wished The Foxe & the Hound had had one.
