4 Crazily. Possessively. Fiercely. Crowns
With the conclusion to The Outskirts Duet, T.M. Frazier gives readers everything they will expect and want from the story of Sawyer and Finn with The Outliers.
The evolution of Sawyer’s character continues with this book, and readers end up seeing a stronger more independent heroine. Watching her reconnect with people from her past, take on the church that left her damaged, and face her biggest enemy is rewarding. More than that, though, is finally getting to see Sawyer’s HEA. This is a woman who has fought for every single thing in her life, and readers will desperately want her to see success and see those who have harmed her get well-deserved justice.
Finn continues to be the kind and protective hero he evolved into during book one of this duet. The one aspect that I do love about him, though, is that he seems to have the perfect balance of protecting Sawyer while also giving her the freedom she needs. He isn’t the hero that saves her, he is the hero that supports her, and that makes him one of my favorite types of male protagonists.
The story, for me, followed the plot line I expected. There are no twists, turns, or surprise revelations, which is unexpected in a T.M. Frazier novel, and ultimately, this is what makes me give it a four star rating. Maybe that is unfair to the author as writers can grow and evolve, but after reading all 10 books that have been published by this author, I had certain expectations walking into the book that weren’t met. The writing is still good, the characters are likable, and the story entertaining, but it lacked that certain Frazier quality that makes me love her books, devour her story lines, and obsess over her anti-heroes.
Even though I didn’t personally love this duet, I would still recommend it to other romance lovers, especially readers that have wanted to try her books and may have been hesitant due to the violence of the anti-heroes and story-lines. With this duet, readers still get an interesting romance that will capture their attention, but they will also be intrigued by the end and the return of a certain character and the glimpse into the next story.

Sensual. Heartbreaking. Passionate. Overwhelming. Maddening.
That’s the love Finn and I share.
It’s the kind you can never recover from.
The kind you never WANT to recover from.
That’s why we’ll do everything and anything to protect it.
When my past chases me all the way to Outskirts, we have to make a choice.
Let the lies destroy our chance at future together or…bury them deep in the swamp where they belong.
