5 Second Chance Crowns
Aly Martinez never fails to pull on my heart strings, and the suspense and romance she is bringing with The Guardian Protection series is reminiscent of the first series I ever read and LOVED by her. Each story in this series is sexy and filled with suspense, and yet each couple still brings something unique and fresh to the page.
Jeremy Lark owned my heart. Blending the past and the present with flashbacks had my heart breaking for this man. Seeing his insecurities in youth and endless miscommunications with Mira makes him a sympathetic hero while also showing readers how much he has grown and become better through hard work and grit. The glimpses of him being a father and even an ex-husband do nothing but to show readers how great of a man he really is at his core. Aly Martinez blends this family man with the dominant, alpha protector to make him a hero that readers will swoon over.
Mira is a woman that readers will ultimately sympathize with while also frustrating them. She makes a decision in her youth based on insecurities and heightened emotions that irrevocably changes her life. Since she is young when this occurs, most readers will forgive the heroine for her rash decision. As an adult, she also takes responsibility for these decisions, which earns reader’s respect and her their forgiveness. She never attempts to justify what she did or explain how she wasn’t at fault for what she did, and she truly wants Jeremy to be happy. Mira is a heroine has a heart big enough to rival that of the hero, often putting herself in danger in order to save others, and because of her years of loneliness, readers will want her to finally find her HEA with Lark.
Aly Martinez has a gift of weaving suspense and danger with hot romances. From the very beginning of this story, readers are put on edge of their seat, needing to know how the story will play out. This event is also what puts Lark and Mira on the path back to each other. From here on out, the readers are thrown into this world with criminals and danger. While these two battle their emotions for each other and what it means for their future, they are also up against others coming often Mira and the potential threat to her life. These two plot lines alone can guarantee that readers won’t be able to walk away from these characters and their story.
I’m loving this new series from Aly Martinez. The writing draws me with a cast of characters I adore, and plots that keep me enthralled from the opening pages. I cannot wait to see more of the Guardian Protection men get their HEA.

Technically, you aren’t supposed to fall in love with your best friend’s girl.
When I was nineteen years old, I was faced with a choice that changed my life.
Keep the safety of what I already knew or risk losing everything with the young, hotheaded soldier who stole my heart.
I chose the wrong man, and for seventeen years, I paid in tears, blood, and shattered dreams for that decision.
Now, there’s a man in my house, holding a gun to my head on the order of my ex-husband—given from his prison cell.
That hotheaded soldier I was too afraid to choose? He’s now a six-foot-three wall of muscle who works at the country’s most premier bodyguard agency. I’ve always wanted him, but now, I’ve never needed him more.
It’s the call I’m terrified to make.
I’m sure he still hates me… Even though I’ve never stopped loving him.

Originally from Savannah, Georgia, USA Today bestselling author Aly Martinez now lives in South Carolina with her four young children.
Never one to take herself too seriously, she enjoys cheap wine, mystery leggings, and baked feta. It should be known, however, that she hates pizza and ice cream, almost as much as writing her bio in the third person.
She passes what little free time she has reading anything and everything she can get her hands on, preferably with a super-sized tumbler of wine by her side.
