 My musings…
3.5 DRAMATIC CROWNS
It is really hard to rate this book, because there are things that I loved and things that I didn’t care for as a reader, but overall it is a solid book, entertaining and riddled with drama.
The characters created mixed fintenedforbristolreveweelings in me.  Bristol is likable.  An interior designer and successful in her career, Bristol is kind and supportive, but also stands her ground and protects her heart.  There isn’t much past this that we know about her, other than her family relationship. This allows readers to like her, but I wasn’t invested in her. The character, though that created the most tumultuous feelings is Jax.  When the novel started I hated him.  He is brash and arrogant, but it rang false to me.  It seemed to be a mask for his insecurities versus being part of who he is.  Jax, however did grow on me.  His change as a result of his interactions with Bristol seemed authentic.  This is the Jax he should have been through the whole novel.  I love this Jax.  He is sweet and considerate, and every single time the word love as a term of endearment had me swooning. Even with mixed feelings for the characters, I enjoyed the two as a couple.  It is obvious they care for each other, their development as a couple in light of the details of the story is authentic, and watching them come together is enjoyable.
The plot for me is what I enjoyed most about this story.  It is filled with drama, which I love! What I love most though about the story is that what the reader thinks is going to be the obvious conflict and resolution isn’t.  There is a much more intense and suspense filled conflict, and enjoyed every single moment of this ride!!  Lovers of drama-filled romances will love this story from being to end.
This has been my first story by LP Dover, and while I didn’t love it, I enjoyed the book overall. It provided me with sweet romance, some suspense, and escape from the world. I will certainly check out more books from the series.
ARC received in exchange for an honest review.

As payback, he sets his sights on the quarterback’s sister: a sultry brunette who’s curvy, confident, and sexy as hell. Now she needs to know that Jaxon has her back . . . because he already has her heart.

Excerpt

Hey,” I squealed, waving my hand in the air. I was so happy my brother would finally get to meet Jack.

He walked toward me with a smile, but when he caught sight of Jack, that smile turned into an all-out heated glare. “What the fuck are you doing here?” he growled, quickening his pace.

Jack froze and gripped my arm, grumbling, “Shit,” before pulling me around to face him. “Bristol, listen to me. This isn’t how I wanted you to find out.”

Everything was happening so fast, I didn’t know what to think. “Find out what?” I asked desperately.

Before he could reply, Ryan ripped me out of Jack’s hold and pushed him away. Jaw tense, Jack was ready to fight, but I couldn’t let that happen. “Ryan, stop!” I shouted, digging my nails in his shoulder.

Jerking his head around, he glared straight at me. “Do you even know who this cocksucker is? He’s playing you to get back at me.”

I threw my hands in the air. “What the hell are you talking about? How do you even know him?”

Jack’s eyes never left mine, the anguish on his face making me sicker by the second. I had a feeling I wasn’t going to like what came out of Ryan’s mouth. He scoffed incredulously and spat at Jack. “He’s Jaxon fucking Reed, the asshole on the team I’ve been telling you about. Don’t tell me you didn’t know?”

Jack stepped forward, but then again, that wasn’t his name. It was Jaxon Reed.
