The conclusion of the Tangled Lies series is now available!
4 Heart Wrenching CROWNS
I really enjoyed the conclusion to the Tangled Lies series and mainly because my guy won in the end. This seems to be deciding factor in who is liking and not liking the final book in this love triangle, but even if my hero choice didn’t win the girl, I really feel that Pam Godwin did an amazing job with their journey and how Dani selected who she ended up with in the end.
Trace continues to be the man he has been through the whole two books: quiet, understanding, stoic yet passionate when he needs to be, and puts Dani before his own needs and desires. I love every single aspect of his character. Even when he is domineering and controlling, there is real affection below the surface.
Cole is a different story for me. I felt bad for him in book one and hated him in book two, but I have to say that Pam Godwin made me love him in Three is War. He finally seems to putting Dani first, considering what she needs and wants, but he still retains that bad-boy charm that was incredibly enticing in book 2. His behavior during Three is War had me loving him, too, which only made it harder for me to witness Dani struggle with her choice, because, for the first time, I could understand her internal conflict.
This journey will affect readers differently but not because of the writing or the plot development, but because Dani has to choose eventually. Readers have become so invested in Team Cole or Team Trace that when they don’t get the ending they want, it taints their love of the journey. Forgetting who she ends up with, Pam Godwin did a fantastic job with their journey. She gives us heart-warming, gut-wrenching scenes with all three and as separate couples, and she delivers some intense sexual chemistry between them as well. What I really enjoyed is how she brought Dani to her decision, and I really respected the responses of both men. They react in a way that actual shows the volume of their love for her, and for the first time, it actually appears that this is more about winning for them and actually about loving her. The ending was hard to watch. I want to see him, the man she didn’t choose, get his happy ending, because he deserves to be happy too. Even with the hard ending, readers will love how she ends it with the couple. It made this reader incredibly happy.
This has been my first love triangle (and series from Pam Godwin). I just can’t read them. They are too hard and too emotional for me to handle, and although this one gutted me, it was worth the journey. Pam Godwin’s story-telling is impeccable, and the journey of these three characters is worth every single moment, as I really came to love all three of them.
