Bittersweet Always by Ella Fields

Release Date: May 4, 2018

5 Oh Yeah CROWNS

Ella Fields, once again, astounds with her beautiful prose and a story that tackles difficult topics that weigh down a couple. She shows not only how mental illness hurts the person who has it but also the person who loves them, delivering another heartfelt, emotional romance

Toby (Tobes) is utterly, adorably sexy. From the way he pursues Pippa to the dirty mouth, he just had my heart. There is a chaos, though, the lies underneath his personality and simmers and flares up. The explosions aren’t always bad but unexpected, and my heart broke for this boy who wants love and so much more. Watching him struggling, his implosion, and journey back to happiness is tumultuous at best. Your heart breaks for him right along with Pippa.

I have a fierce love for Pippa. Since the first book, her devotion to Daisy had my unfailing loyalty, and this only continued with Bittersweet Always. The way she looks out for Daisy and the way she puts her heart on the line with Toby, makes her really the best kind of person. She struggles with her love for Toby and wanting to support him and keeping herself safe and happy. Balancing her need to love him through his breakdown and her need to protect herself is one that will resonate with many and makes her character relatable.

Like Suddenly Forbidden, Bittersweet Always is hard to witness at times. Their relationship is fast and a whirlwind of lust and love, the infatuation evolving into real feelings. Readers see the signs coming with Toby. We see the self destruction, but like Pippa, we hope it will go away or solve itself. We walk this journey with her. We get hurt with her, hope with her, and heal with her, making us also revel in the HEA these two wholeheartedly earn.

Bittersweet Always in true Ella’s Fields fashion is a heart wrenching love story, but it is also a story that touches on real issues that affect us all, of loving someone who is destructive but being unable to walk away. At the end of it all, this story is one of hope, hope for those who struggle with mental illness and hope for those who love them unconditionally.

Toby Hawthorne was an enigma.
One I didn’t factor into my college plans.I wasn’t looking for love.
I wasn’t not looking for it either.
And in that state of in-between, he found me.Unaware of the battle he fought everyday, I fell fast.
By the time I found out, it was too late.
Because I wanted everything.
Every broken, lost part of him.

I knew I couldn’t fix him.
I could only love him.
But I should’ve known better than to think that was enough.

Bittersweet Always is NOW LIVE and only 99c for a limited time!!!

I thought he’d always be mine,
even when I was forced to say goodbye.

We were never meant to let go,
but it happened anyway.
Too bad I didn’t know someone was waiting to take my place, or I would’ve held on a lot tighter.

Two years later, we were exactly where we’d always planned to be.
I’d kept my promise.
He’d forgotten all about his.
Not only had he moved on, but the person he’d moved on with was my best friend, leaving me to begin college with a broken heart.

I guess this is the part where I’m supposed to tell you some other guy stepped in, repaired my shattered pieces, and made me smile again.

This isn’t that kind of story.

My heart might have been broken,
but it refused to fall out of love.
