Dreams of 18 by Saffron A. Kent
5 Tastes Like Candy CROWNS
Saffron Kent has a way of writing stories that make your thighs clench and your core ache. She absolutely slayed this Taboo older man/younger woman slow burn romance. I was captivated from the start and could not put this book down. Mr. Edwards is everything you want in a sexy brooding beast of an older man. And Violet is the sweet pure girl that’s made of moon and magic, who steals his heart.
“Violet.” The way he says my name for the first time ever—low and rough like a secret—makes me think that he means someone else. Someone pretty and sexy.
I love that Saffron writes imperfect characters, they’re damaged and so beautifully broken. And to me it makes them more realistic and makes me fall in love with them even more. Violet is like that, she’s an introvert and keeps to herself. She hides behind her crutches: which in high school include her hair and her headphones, and when she’s older its huge sunglasses and a baseball hat. Not only that but her family is horrible, and they treat her so poorly she doesn’t have any self-worth. Her backstory broke my heart and all that she goes through put’s a lot of things in perspective. She’s stunning and sweet but doesn’t realize any of this because of how she was treated growing up. She has a little bit more control over her anxiety when she’s in high school. But then things happen, and she gets so much worse, afraid to even leave the house at times. It’s so heartbreaking to read because you can feel her anxiety through the pages, and you know where it comes from and why. You want to help her anyway you can.
Oh, Mr. Edwards. I’m not normal. Typical things like angry beasts don’t scare me. I’m scared of other tiny things like front doors or getting stopped on the street by a stranger.
Mr. Edwards I’m just going to keep calling him that because it’s hot. He has his own tragic story that will break you. He tries so hard to be good and take care of his son and do all the things that he feels society wants. But he never does anything for himself. He doesn’t even know what he wants because he’s never thought of it before. Mr. Edwards is only Surviving not Living until Violet enters his monochromatic world and douses it in color. Everyone always called him The Beast when he was coaching because he was brooding and angry and made the kids cry. But it’s not until Violent when he becomes a beast for another reason. She’s his beast and he’s possessive and passionate, protective to the extreme. He would never let anyone hurt her in anyway. And given the way Violet grew up this is exactly what she needs. She needs someone to put her first, to protect her and love her the way she needs and deserves to be loved.
I don’t understand why I want to consume her. Why I want to ruin and keep her safe all at the same time.
I absolutely loved this romance. I can’t get enough of the worlds that she creates and these beautifully written, broken character’s that will have you falling in love. The realistic way she writes them has you connecting to them on a deeper level. You can feel their pain and heartache as if it’s happening to you. And the slow burn is enough to incinerate your Kindle once they finally get together!!! The build-up is pure freaking fire so hot it could burn down everything around them.
Some people don’t like Age-Gap romances, I for one, thoroughly enjoy them. So, if sexy brooding older men that are overly possessive, dominate, and protective are your thing, than Read. This!! You will not be disappointed.

“You don’t go around kissing your best friend’s dad, do you? Even though that’s all you ever dream about.”
Violet Moore is in love with a man who hates her.
Well, to be fair, she kinda deserves it.
On her eighteenth birthday, she got drunk and threw herself at him, causing the biggest scandal of their sleepy suburban town.
Now, everyone thinks she’s a slut and he has disappeared. Rumor has it that he’s been living up in the mountains of Colorado, all alone and in isolation.
But Violet is going to make it right.
She’s going to find him and bring him back.
No matter how cruel and mean he is. Or how much he hurts her with his cold-hearted and abrasive ways, she won’t give up.
And neither will she think about his tempting lips or his sculpted muscles or his strong hands. The hands that she wants on her body, touching her, feeling her skin…
The hands that make her want to forget everything and kiss Graham Edwards—Mr. Edwards, actually—again.
Because you don’t go around kissing your best friend’s dad, do you?
Even though that’s all you ever dream about.
