Sarah’s Musings…

4.5 Chaotic Love CROWNS

S.M. Soto doesn’t pull any punches with the conclusion to Sophia and Creed’s story in Love and Chaos. The epic conclusion gives readers everything they have come to love from this trilogy: suspense, danger, chemistry, and romance.

In the previous two books in this series, Creed has wormed his way into my heart. His silent, broody and protective nature speaks to me. The element of danger that he brings is enticing. More than anything, though, I love the way that he loves Sophia and their baby, in and out of the womb. There are moments in this story when Creed becomes dark and lost in the violence and the need for revenge, and these were hard to read. I missed my Creed and wanted him back, and while he is in the darkness longer than I would have liked, he does come back and evolves into an even better man.

Sophia, for most of the series, has always been this slightly naive and, at times, reckless heroine. She gets herself into a ton of unsafe situations. In Love and Chaos, though, we see her evolve not only into a stronger woman but also as the wife Creed needs. Part of her strength comes from being a mother and her love to protect her child and the family they have worked so hard to create. The other part of her strength stems from her love of Creed and her need to keep him in the light with her. She does seem to cry quite a bit in this book, but I am going to chalk that up to the hormones.

Like the previous two books in the trilogy, Love and Chaos is riveting. The constant threats and danger to Creed and Sophia’s family woven with their romance creates an enthralling romance. With the final installment in the trilogy, there are moments that lull and the threats coming for them from all sides don’t necessarily seem connect, but I was still engaged from the first page. I still raced to the end wanting to see their HEA, and what an ending it is. I don’t think S.M. Soto could have put a bigger smile on my face with the ending of Sophia and Creed’s journey. She did them justice, for sure.

This has been my favorite S.M. Soto series to date. My love of the suspense-romance genre helps, but this world and the characters are special. Their love is hard fought, all consuming, and healing. It is electric and captivating, and it showcase the phenomenal story teller that Soto is. It will definitely be a favorite of mine this year.
