#NewRelease & #MBreview “Good Boy” by Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy

Good Boy (Wags Series)

by Sarina Bowen & Elle Kennedy

Release Date: January 31, 2017

 My musings…

5 Cheezus CROWNS

Can Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy write a bad novel? I just don’t think it is possible.  These characters are completely lovable and perfect, and this story made me swoon and laugh hysterically, truly romantic comedy perfection.

Blakey!!!! God, how I adore this man. Sweet, kind, loyal, and willing to sacrifice his own happiness for the people he loves.  His enthusiasm for is infectious, and every time he was in a scene I had a huge grin on my face.  His antics, while outlandish and often absurd, are just completely entertaining and endearing.

J-Babe is just as wonderful as Blake.  I love that she is a little lost in the book, because her dedication to finding her way on her own, being independent, is what I admire in a good heroine.  It makes me love her as a reader. I love her resistance, even though it is half-hearted, to Blake, and I cheered when she resigns herself to loving him.  She, just like Blake, is also kind and loyal, and when she finally gives to she who shall not be named I cheered!  She is just a fantastic heroine,.

I have fallen in love with the Riley family as much I love the Canning family.  I just want these families to be real, and I want them to adopt me.  I want to be a part of this crazy crew.  Their joy and love for each other is contagious, and I hope in the future, I have a family just as wonderful, supportive, and so ridiculous as these two families.

I need to take a moment to express my love of Wes and Jamie.  I know this isn’t their story, but the opening focuses on their wedding, and, GOD, kill me now.  Their love is the stuff of romance dreams.  It is so pure, consuming, and it permeates every scene.  My heart melted into a pile of goo with each and every opening scene of this book. I do not know how with simple words Elle Kennedy and Sarina Bowen infuse my heart with love, love for these men, love for their relationship, and love for their journey.  I don’t ever want to stop reading about these families, these characters, and this world.

This story is so much fun! There isn’t a better word for it! Blake and Jess make each and every scene entertaining.  The jokes, the blake-isms, the triple entendres will have readers falling in love with the story and the characters.  Watching Blake chase and pursue Jess is simply magical, and I found myself falling in love with Blake with each passing page. The conflict that is created in this book is unusual, and I couldn’t believe that it continued for so long; however, knowing what readers know about Blake it isn’t shocking.  I do love that these writers didn’t use a typical romance trope conflict, and it pays off in the end. Readers get their conflict but they get to keep the love of both characters in tact.  Just like the rest of the story, the ending of this book will have readers cheezin’ (insert sigh).

It will be one of the saddest days of my reading life when these two women no longer write in this world.  Jamie, Wes, Blake, Jess, the Rileys, and the Cannings have become a happy place for me, a place to escape the hustle and bustle of the world.  For a moment, I get to live in a place where love isn’t defined by others, where familial love and support is there in spades, and the world is just a better place. Good Boy is just a continuation of everything I love about these ladies and their writing, and I cannot wait to visit this world again with Stay and find one more moment of reprieve.

gb-bn-kobo-1 Synopsis:

Hosting her brother’s wedding for an MVP guest list is the challenge of Jess Canning’s life. Already the family screw-up, she can’t afford to fail. And nobody (nobody!) can learn of the colossal mistake she made with the best man during a weak moment last spring. It was wrong, and there will not be a repeat. Absolutely not. Even if he is the sexiest thing on two legs.

Blake Riley sees the wedding as fate’s gift to him. Jess is the maid of honor and he’s the best man? Let the games begin. So what if he’s facing a little (fine, a lot) of resistance? He just needs to convince the stubborn blonde that he’s really a good boy with a bad rap. Luckily, every professional hockey player knows that you’ve got to make an effort if you want to score.

But Jess has more pressing issues to deal with than sexy-times with a giant man-child. Such as: Will the ceremony start on time, even though someone got grandma drunk? Does glitter ever belong at a wedding? And is it wrong to murder the best man?

Warning: Do not read while sipping hot liquids. Or cold ones. Or while sitting anywhere laughter would be inappropriate. Contains hot but hilarious hockey players, puppies and a snarky pair of underwear.
