My musings…

5 Your Heart Knows CROWNS

Meghan Quinn has become one of my favorite writers over the last two years. I love her unique humor and how she intertwines it with the sexy and sweet parts of her romances. So, of course, I was so excited for Three Blind Dates, but that was until someone ruined the ending and indicated who she ended up with. I was devastated because it wasn’t my guy, but it is Meghan Quinn so nevertheless, I read it, and she won me over. Clearly, similar to that of the heroine, I didn’t know my own heart.

The heroes of this book – the suit, the rebel, and the jock – are all amazing in their own way, and I love the Meghan Quinn took the standard romance trope heroes for her men. Initially, they all seem to fit into that role, but with more dates and time spent with the heroine, readers get to see more depth to their characters. I can honestly say, I fell in love with each one of them. They all brought something different to the table, and the heroine had different and genuine connections with each, showcasing that one can be drawn to multiple people at the same time. Even as it becomes clear towards the end of the novel who the winner of Noely’s heart will be, readers will still be invested in the other two heroes. We want them to get their HEAs as well, because Ms. Quinn has created three heroes to swoon over. Thank goodness she plans to deliver.

Noely is reminiscint of the heroine from her Virgin Romance Novelist novel. Smart with an odd sense of humor, she often makes a fool of herself, and Noely does so time and again in spectacular fashion. Her antics provide the humor in the book and make her endearing. Readers will also connect with this heroine for her desire to find love, real love, the kind of love that makes you look at your partner of 20 years with baby spit on their sweatpants and think he/she is the most beautiful person you have ever seen, because it is what most readers want. This is what we long for, that companionship and unconditional love, and I love the Noely gets that in the end with her bachelor.

There are so many reasons I love this book. I love the allusions and integration of You’ve Got Mail, which is such a great movie (Noely is right about that). I love how it became an integral part of the plot and romance between all the couples. I love how the author shows how attraction is different for each couple, but is still something special. I love most of all the idea of timing, that two people can be right for each other but if the timing is off then it doesn’t work, further showcasing the idea that a person can be suited for multiple people. Even with this idea and my disappointment going into the novel knowing who she chooses, Meghan Quinn and the bachelor who won Noely’s heart still won me over with this story. By the end of the novel, there is no choice who she should be with, and we are pulling for the two by the end of the book. It also helps that we know the other two are getting their happily-ever-afters too.

Three Blind Dates is another fantastic romantic comedy from the mind of the hilarious Meghan Quinn. Readers will die laughing and will swoon over the dominant nature of Mr. Suit, the adventurous spirit of the Rebel, and the sweet nature of the Jock. So get ready to pick your bachelor and settle in for a good time!

Synopsis:

“Good Morning Malibu, it’s another beautiful day on the west coast! I’m Noely Clark, your host: and I’m in the market for love…”

When the publicity team of the new local restaurant, Going in Blind, began their search for a hot, local celebrity to promote the wildly popular eatery, they couldn’t have found a better person than me.

Outgoing? Check.

Single? Check.

Open to finding love? Check.

I signed up immediately.

A hopeless romantic with an exceedingly demanding schedule, I’ve found it impossible to find the man of my dreams—so Going in Blind seems too good to be true! That’s until they start setting me up on dates—three very different, very attractive, very distinct blind dates—and only one thing is for certain . . .

I’m in big trouble.

Good Morning Malibu,

I’m Noely Clark, and I have a choice to make.

The question is who will I choose; the suit, the rebel, or the jock.

EXCERPT:

NOELY

“Just state my name?”

“Yeah. Gives us a quick rundown on who you are, what you do, your interests, and what you’re looking for in a man.”

I nod and clear my throat. Sitting tall, my hands resting in my lap, I speak directly into the camera . . .

“Hi, I’m Noely Clark, and I’m one of your Good Morning, Malibu hosts. As you know, I’m single and in the market for love. As a twenty-seven-year-old woman who has had her fair share of rotten relationships, hookups, and dates, I want to try something new. I want to be thrust into a program where my celebrity status isn’t the first thing someone knows about me, where I can be known for who I am as a person rather than how I’m represented on TV.”

“And who is the person you want to be known for?”

Tilting my head to the side, I purse my lips, thinking of my answer. “Just a regular girl who loves Tom Hanks, would do just about anything adventurous, and would rather be seen eating nachos at a hockey game than enjoying a chardonnay during a classic night at the opera.”

“And what are you looking for in a man?”

Taking a deep breath, I look straight into the camera. “Someone who will cuddle on my couch and watch a classic romcom with me. Someone who will challenge me. Someone who is respectful and courteous to others but also has no qualms about shouting at an official while pounding on the glass at a hockey game. We don’t have to be a perfect match, because when is that really the case? But I want our match to be close with a little bit of wiggle room for some give and take, because what’s love without a little bit of compromise, without being able to adapt to your partner and love what they love? It’s the people in our life who mold us, and I’m far from being molded completely.”

About the Author:

Author, wife, adoptive mother, and peanut butter lover. Will dance for laughs, won’t eat anything spicy because you asked, but will squeeze boobs in replace of a hug. Grew up in Southern California (Temecula, anyone? Anyone?) lived in New York (the armpit of NY, not the city) and now resides in Colorado with my wife, son, two dogs, three cats, and my multiple book boyfriends. Loves love, anything romantic, and will die if I ever meet Tom Hanks. Yay, books!

  1. Lovely review. I loved this book and fortunately I managed to read it without anyone spoiling the ending!

  2. Wonderful review! I loved this book too! I’m sorry the ending was ruined for you, though. 🙁 P.S. I noticed your review graphic shows 4.5 crowns instead of 5.
