A.L. Jackson is truly the master of the emotional, heart wrenching romances. Her prose makes you feel, wraps you up in the heartbreak and the reconciliation, and ultimately shows that the world is always full of hope, that where there is love, there is hope for more.

Readers will love these characters. Jackson showing us Jace and Faith as kids brings the wrong side of the track romance to light. You fall in love with Jace, the boy, trying to do the best he can, and Faith, the girl who sees beyond the surface. Our love of these characters easily translates to who they are as adults. We live the pain with them from their first adult encounter, becoming immersed in the hurt they have inflicted on each other intentional or not. What is always clear with her characters is the love they feel. Jackson’s heroes are always so honorable and, in a way, alpha in their protection of those they love, and her heroines are always virtuous. The romance between her characters, just like Jace and Faith, is pure and consuming. These two encompass all of this and more.

This story is not just a second chance romance, though. It is filled with suspense, an ever looming threat. Not only does this threat serve as the impetus to put Faith and Jace back into each other’s lives, but it also reveals so much about what happened in the past and is integral to their future. I do wish that pacing would have been a bit faster, that the second chance romance plot line and the suspenseful aspects would have been woven together sooner, but ultimately I still really enjoyed the journey.

A.L. Jackson will always be a favorite for her writing style alone. Her words paint the most vivid pictures, and I live these stories with her characters. I become immersed her world, and for someone reason I always leave her books feeling like love can really overcome any obstacle. Her stories give me that quintessential romantic feeling and that never gets old.
