5 Feel Good CROWNS
With Mr Mayfair, Ms Bay brings us a delightful slow burn of a romance which I enjoyed enormously. The fake relationship trope can be hit or miss for me, but I’m more than pleased to say, this was a definite hit.
The developing bond between Beck and Stella was captivating. It may have started out as a mutually beneficial business arrangement for both of them, but it was wonderful to see their personalities and feelings grow and evolve the more time they spent together. I loved the flow of the story, even the ups and downs felt real. This author really invests in her characters’ personalities and although they were very different in that respect, I thought they made a great team. The positive effect they had on each other was just lovely. I particularly liked Beck’s sense of humor and in fact the sprinkling of humor throughout the book had me smiling and laughing on more than one occasion.
For me, the slow burn was perfect and ensured that they were friends first and foremost, each with a good amount of respect for the other. This gave them a solid basis for a relationship that wasn’t simply based on mutual attraction. Don’t get me wrong, there was most definitely an attraction there and nothing was held back in respect of the bedroom shenanigans, which had me more than just hot under the collar!
Mr Mayfair has its roots in the heart of London but from there, we are taken on an amazing trip to the Highlands of Scotland. As Ms Bay is a British author, her stories clearly benefit from her own experiences and wealth of information when it comes to the places she writes about. Her wonderfully descriptive writing will have you longing to experience the history of those places for yourself.
You won’t find a great deal of angst here, beyond the basis for the story. It’s a lovely, sweet, feel good romance with hugely likeable main characters and a great cast of well developed supporting characters too. Each have their own unique personalities, both good and bad, which add balance to the story and I’m certainly hoping we hear more from Beck’s friends in particular in the future.
4.5 Faking It CROWNS
Louise has utterly nailed this Fake. Relationship. Trope. I loved everything about Beck and Stella. From the beginning everything felt real and honest, nothing about them felt forced, Louise out did herself! Her words had me completely entranced with them, so much so that I did not want their story to end. This sweet, sexy read should not be missed.
And I did like him. So far. Not that it mattered. Although, obviously he was attractive. An eighty-five-year-old lesbian nun would be giddy around Beck.
The humor interlaced throughout this story was perfection. It kept a smile on my face for so long my cheeks started to hurt! Beck really saw Stella even from that first meeting, it was as if he could see straight into her soul. He treated her with such respect and honesty. And he always made sure to listen to what she had to say, he never disregarded her feelings or made her feel like less. Their relationship may be fake, but he never treated her as if it were.
Beck is gorgeous and smart, with a stubborn streak a mile long. He is unapologetically determined especially when he has his sights set on something. Their banter back and forth was one of my absolute favorite things about this story.
Her hands slide up the sides of my shirt and I held back a shiver. When had such a simple touch over my clothes ever had such a visceral effect on me? I wanted this woman. This woman.
Beck and Stella’s slow burn was to die for. They just clicked right away, and everything felt so natural. Their progression towards the inevitable fire that burned from the sparks they created was Melt. Your. Kindle. Hot! I about incinerated after reading it, I seriously needed to take a little breather to calm my racing heart.
Stella was dealing with a really crappy situation; her shithead of an ex seriously did some damage and it was hard to see her break down on multiple occasions because of what he put her through. But what I loved was that Beck instinctively knew what to say to make her feel better. He would talk her off the ledge and get her back on the right track.
She pressed her hand to my chest, and I relaxed instantly. Her warmth was like coming home—it was belonging. Wherever she was, I was meant to be.
I loved this story to my core. Louise created a wonderful story full of redemption and perseverance. I loved the characters dearly and I honestly can’t wait to see what she brings to us next.
5 FAKE LOVE CROWNS
I absolutely adored this novel from beginning to end. It was light fun, uber-steamy, and I just loved the banter and chemistry between the hero and heroine.
Beck is just fantastic. There wasn’t a part of his character that I didn’t love. He is protective when he needs to be, supportive of the heroine instead of taking over, and he is a bit vulnerable behind the whole playboy facade. He is without one of my favorite Louise Bay heroes.
I actually really enjoyed Stella. She is incredibly relatable, which made her endearing in every single way. Kind, compassionate, more understanding than anyone should ever be, I couldn’t help but cheer for her and want Beck to fall in love with her.
This story is so entertaining. The slow burn, the development of the fake relationship to real love was engaging and funny with its moments of steamy. It does follow the typical plot line for this trope, but because I loved these two so much as individuals and as a couple, it didn’t bother me in the least. I truly didn’t want to say goodbye to them. In fact, I read the ending all over again because I didn’t want to.
I couldn’t recommend this book enough. I loved every word and moment with Beck and Stella, and I hope we get to see more of this world.

It should be the most shocking news I’d ever gotten—My boyfriend is getting married.
Okay, technically he’s my ex-boyfriend. Two months ago he decided he wanted a break. I still thought he was my happily ever after.
On any other day, knowing he was gone for good would be the worst thing that could possibly happen.
But not today.
Because not only is my boyfriend getting married—his bride is my best friend.
And they’ve sent me an invitation.
There’s no way I’m going to attend. I don’t care if it’s in beautiful Scotland.
Nothing and no one could convince me.
Not even when a deliciously handsome stranger tells me he needs to go as my plus one.
Not even when he shoots me a wickedly, sexy smile.
But then he offers me the opportunity of a lifetime—a dream come true. How can I say no?
But I have one condition. He has to be my new boyfriend. I mean, my pretend new boyfriend.
I’m about to find out that faking it can be a whole lot of fun.
