5 Best Friend CROWNS
R.S. Grey is becoming the queen of my rom-com world. And in full disclosure, I’m not a huge romantic comedy fan. I have my few one-click authors, but otherwise, I live in the world of angst and darkness. For some reason, though, R.S. Grey’s novels pull me in with the witty banter, fantastic couple chemistry and perfect blend of comedy and romance. I just can’t seem to get enough!
Could Ian and Sam have been any cuter? I’ll save you the trouble and answer for you. Nope. From the opening chapter, I was rolling with laughter from the dream to the inner dialogue and the hilarious teacher moments. While Ian has his funny moments, too, he is more the comedic side kick. He does, however, hit all the points I love in a hero: sexy, supportive, charming, and smart. What ultimately sells the book, though, is these two together! They are just perfectly perfect in every way. The friendship. The transition to love. Romantic comedy genius.
Not So Nice Guy hits the mark because of the plot just as much as the characters. The move from best friend to lovers couldn’t have been better. Readers get to see them as friends and all the little patterns and rituals they have. The alternating points of view give readers a look at how they feel for one another, building the tension and antics between the two. What I loved most is the conflict, which is often a hard sell for me in the Rom-com world. This conflict, though, had the right level of intensity. It was heavy enough to be a real conflict but light enough for the tone of a romantic comedy. The tightness of it all only continues into the resolution. It fit this couple to a tee and had me smiling and internally squealing, “awww.”
R.S. Grey is a genius, a rom-col genius. The quirky characters, witty banter, sexual chemistry, and comedy just gets me every single time. She always puts a perma-smile on my face with her words!! Just fantastic!

About NOT SO NICE GUY
“Oh my god. Who is that?”
I get asked this question a lot.
“Oh him?” I reply. “That’s just Ian.”
Just Ian is the biggest understatement of the century. Just the Mona Lisa. Just the Taj Mahal. Just Ian, with his boring ol’ washboard abs and dime-a-dozen dimpled smile.
Just Ian is…just my best friend.
We’re extremely close, stuck so deep inside a Jim-and-Pam-style friendzone everyone at work assumes we’re a couple—that is until one day, word spreads through the teacher’s lounge that he’s single. Fair game. Suddenly, it’s open season on Ian.
He should be reveling in all the newfound attention, but to our mutual surprise, the only attention he seems to want is mine.
He’s turning our formerly innocent nightly chats into X-rated phone calls. Our playful banter sports a new, dangerous edge.
I want to assume he’s playing a prank on me, just pushing my buttons like always—but when Ian lifts me onto the desk in my classroom and slides his hands up my skirt, he doesn’t leave a lot of room for confusion.
I’m a little scared of things going south, of losing my best friend because I can’t keep my hands to myself. So, I’m just going to back away and not return this earth-shattering kiss—oh who am I kidding?!
Goodbye Ian, ol’ buddy, ol’ pal!
