4.5 Dirty Word CROWNS

With each book in this series of standalones, Emma Chase reminds me why I love to read romances. Each couple, each story, and each journey epitomizes what love is, exemplifying why we long for it, crave it, and why we, ultimately, read about it every single day.

Prince Edward is everything I love in a hero. Not only is he an adventurer, but he is 100% in support of Lenora. Every choice he makes, every action he takes is to show her his love and his support. He makes her stronger, and not because he is a man but because she knows he is always there for her, as her husband, her prince and a man.

Queen Lenora is fantastic. My heart broke for her and how lonely she is at the beginning of the book. Emma Chase wrote about it, describing her emptiness in a way that resonated in my soul. Along with it, though, is a healthy respect for this woman, who at a young age had to be strong. Emma Chase has created a powerful female who is able to rule her country with integrity and passion, while also claiming a life she loves for herself. Truly inspiring.

This story is a journey of a queen, a woman who had to fight against a male dominated world. We see her not only rise and evolve into the queen we have known and loved in previous books, but as a woman. We see here fall in love, learn to feel and grow. We see her personal happiness. On top of all of that, we see love in its truest from when it comes to Edward and Lenny – the support, the adoration, and the acceptance. We see love set someone free when their is trust, and we get to see that love is transformative. There is not much of a conflict or trials for these two to overcome, and yet I found that I was a bit swept away by their journey and their evolution as a couple to truly care. With each chapter, I just became more enamored with this couple.

This series of standalones is not just my favorite series from Emma Chase, but it is my favorite royal romance ever. Ms. Chase has created a world that truly exemplifies what real love looks like and the joy it brings. It is the epitome of what romance should be.

Synopsis:

Princess Lenora Celeste Beatrice Arabella Pembrook had an unusual childhood. She was raised to be a Queen—the first Queen of Wessco.

It’s a big deal.

When she’s crowned at just nineteen, the beautiful young monarch is prepared to rule. She’s charming, clever, confident and cunning.

What she isn’t…is married.

It’s her advising council’s first priority. It’s what Parliament is demanding, and what her people want.

Lenora has no desire to tie herself to a man—particularly one who only wants her for her crown. But compromises must be made and royals must do their duty.

Even Queens. Especially them.
