Well Damn, Amo pulls zero punches and I mean legit zero punches when it comes to this book. I’m sitting here hours after finishing, ruminating on what I just read, not knowing where to go or what to do. Her words are like a sweet decadent poison that you can’t help but taste and as each page progresses, the poison soaks further and further into your being until it’s taken you over, swallowing you whole and holding you captive. You’ll want to live in this world, breathe in this world, and die in this world.
Jade is this beautifully written complex character that has to grow-up in the most devastating of circumstances. But despite what she goes through she is strong, so incredibly strong, and she never lets it break her. I’m not going to lie, sometimes watching what’s happening is hard. But it’s the strength that you feel emanating from the pages that gets you through. This girl goes through hell and back but her heart and soul are untouched. They are the true character behind this woman and they bring a light to the darkness that surrounds her.
Royce is darkly deviant with a possessiveness that can rival the most dominate of Alphas. His connection with Jade is embedded so deep you don’t know where one begins and the other ends. From the first page you can feel that bond scorch the pages igniting you in the intensity of it. I could not get enough of these two. Their banter is off the charts, legit Pure Kindle Crack!!! Not to mention the chemistry between them is unlike anything I’ve read in a long time, the heat and intensity with which they burn for each other is enough to set your Kindle a blaze as well as your panties. When Jade doesn’t back down to him, you can feel the shift in Royce, it’s so deliciously hot to watch him come undone when it comes to her.
I live for Amo’s words, every time I open one of her books I immediately descend into the world that she’s created. I become lost to the pages and immersed so fully I lose track of what’s happening around me. Royce and Jade are something special, these two own a part of me, their story is not an easy one, it’s disturbing and unsettling at times, but it’s theirs and it’s perfect. If you read one dark romance this year, let it be this you will not regret it!!

5+ F*CK FATE CROWNS
LORD. I’m all up in my feelings at the moment. It’s been about an hour since finishing Sicko, and I feel bereft, like I’m floating around aimlessly. What do I do? How do I leave Jade and Royce behind? I don’t want to. I’m not ready.
Jade is FIERCE. While she suffers in this book, she endures. There is a quiet strength to her. She isn’t loud or boisterous, but she carries a lot in her shoulders for those she lovers. Her strength is unparalleled, and she, I might dare say, is Amo’s strongest heroine. She is beyond words.
Royce is so different then her other heroes. His alpha nature is silent. His dominance is quiet and subtle. It is there. It is just different. It oozes off of him versus being something that he walks around shouting about. There is pain in his life and it has shaped the man he becomes, the man with dark parts that match his soul. His love for Jade is infinite, and he is willing to do anything and be anything for her, and that is what will win readers over.
This story. I wasn’t expecting it. I can tell you that after reading the few chapters she released in an anthology, I had an idea of the basis of Sicko, but it is so much more than that. There is, like all Amo bkkks a layering to the stories. The pieces falling together when she wants them to be revealed. It truly felt like I was in a whirlwind at the end. Most importantly, the themes of family being more than blood and of love and soulmates being something that transcends is beautiful.
The Wolfpack MC is a whole new world filled with lovable characters. God, I want stories for them all. This is a standalone, so absolutely no guarantees on that, but get ready to fall in love with a new crew of secondary characters.
This is a DARK romance, so this book won’t be for the faint of heart, but Amo handles these moments and scenes with such grace. It isn’t gratuitous but important to the characters and their journey. It is essential to them and who they are and their journey to their HEA.
Sicko easily slides into one of the top spots I have for my Amo books. It is heart wrenching and hopeful, a story that stayed with me long after it was over. It moved me. It played with my emotions. It was everything.
He was my foster brother.
He swore to protect me.
They all failed.
I’m an open box of passé photographs, snapped in chaste daylight, but filtered in sepia. I’m the past that he tried to forget, and he was the future I needed. When he left four years ago, I screamed for him every night. But then it all stopped. My screams were suddenly muffled by cruelty, and further coaxed by pain.
But he has come back. He’s not the cute big brother I had a furtive crush on, or the bad boy, rich brat that I hated to love.
He’s the ruthless vice president of Wolf Pack MC, and he doesn’t answer to Royce Kane anymore.
He answers to Sicko.
