Angst and Julie Johnson will now and forevermore be synonymous. Seriously, my heart cannot take it, and yet I always seem to go back for more. Why? Because her prose is beautiful, her stories rich with emotion, and I never fail to get wrapped in her words and her characters.
Her heroes ALWAYS kill me. I love and want to murder them at the same time, and they are sexy as heck. I can honestly say that there has not been one Julie Johnson hero who hasn’t won me over, and Ryder Woods is no exception to the aforementioned claim. He is a man who has music in his soul, and there is just something undeniably swoon-worthy about that. Even with all his charm, he is unbelievably flawed, which is something I love about all of Julie’s characters. There are so many times I wanted to reach into my Kindle and throat punch him, scream at him, and shake some sense into him, but alas, like Felicity, he still owns me. He eventually comes to his senses and does the right thing, and I can only hope that by the end of Unfaded, he gets it together.
This is book one of a duet, and while it has it’s own climax and resolution, readers are really only getting the first half of Ryder and Felicity’s story. And, oh boy, is it a story. From the very beginning, there is drama and suspense, a host of secondary characters to adore, and chemistry so hot between the heroine and hero that it can be felt in your bones from the minute their eyes meet. Like a typical music romance, it has the standard issues readers expect, which for the most part would make me rate it as 4 crowns, but Julie Johnson’s words just entrance me. I also know that she is going to have something up her sleeve. She left us so many clues that my inferencing-loving brain is working over-time to try to predict where she is going to take us with Unfaded. Unfortunately, there are too many avenues, and I want to enjoy the crazy ride she is going to take us on.
Faded is another hit. I loved the Nashville setting and the whole cast of characters she created in this world. The angst, the passion, the love of music, and the dark side of the industry created a universe I never want to leave. I am already secretly hoping some secondary characters are going to get stories, and I won’t even apologize for it.

I was never supposed to be famous.
I was a lyricist, not a singer.
Certainly not a star.
Too bad none of that seemed to matter to a rock-god like Ryder Woods.
He didn’t just want my words — he wanted everything.
And he took it.
My songs. My voice. My goddamned soul.
Between those haunting bedroom eyes and that heart-stopping grin, I never stood a chance. I was pulled into his orbit like a rogue meteor passing a sun.
The problem is, if you get too close to a star…
You’re bound to get burned.
FADED is the first installment of an angst-laced, passion-fueled duet about a jaded rock star and a starry-eyed songwriter. Due to sex, drugs, and rock & roll, it is recommended for readers ages 16 and up.

They warned me not to get too close.
Too bad I didn’t listen.
Enter a star’s orbit, it’ll burn you down to ashes before you know what’s happened. And he was the most beautiful star in the night sky.
Singed beyond repair, I left Los Angeles behind.
Left him behind.
But I was kidding myself if I thought a few thousand miles of space would erase my memory.
And I was plain stupid if I thought he’d let me go without a fight.
They say the brightest stars burn out the fastest…
But the strongest loves don’t ever fade.
UNFADED is the final installment of an angst-laced, passion-fueled duet about a jaded rock star and a starry-eyed songwriter. Due to sex, drugs, and rock & roll, it is recommended for readers ages 16 and up.
