5+ CHASING MOMENTS CROWNS
Moving. Gorgeous. Stunning. Beautiful. Heart-warming. Poignant. This book is simply everything, possibly one of my favorite books ever published by this amazing author. From page one, I was gripped by the characters and their stories, and I couldn’t stop until I got the end. Even then, I didn’t want to let go; it was just that good!
These characters are some of my favorites! I became so attached to them that I was so sad to leave them when the book was over. Camile is my favorite type of heroine. She fights for what is right, and she is kind and generous, giving back to her community. I love her integrity and focus on what is important in life, allowing her to really live in the moment and savor all that life offers her. Her ability to forgive and her thoughts on forgiveness are just truly and utterly amazing! I also love every single part of her development as a character.
Warren is among my favorite Claire Contreras heroes, only to be rivaled by Cole and Nick, but he has given them a run for their money. His perseverance and dedication not only to his sport but to his pursuit of Camila is fantastic. He approaches everything he loves with this devotion, and I can only imagine being on the receiving end of such zeal. He also has zero regard for what anyone thinks about the decision he makes and the people he chooses to surround himself with, which is another admirable aspect of his character. One aspect of his character development that I loved is the author allowed the reader to get to know Warren through Camile way before we got to meet War Zone. This set up allows the reader to truly become more invested in him, as he is presented more than a manwhore sports star. That is secondary to who he is based on how he is presented to the reader.
Their relationship development is beautiful and authentic. Nothing about their coupling seems rushed or unrealistic. We get to see them get to know each other and fall for each other, which only makes the inevitable fall all-the-more soul destroying. But what I loved most of all is how she opens his eyes to all that there is in life. Together they truly decide to chase moments together, living life for more than just a sport or a job. And although they have sexual chemistry that is off the charts, it becomes secondary to their relationship.
This plot, this plot, this plot will engage you from the beginning. At 2% into the book, I was hooked and my heart was in my chest. Claire Contreras drops you right into the story, and the way she writes and the diction she utilizes makes the emotions of the character tangible, and the reader as no choice but to feel it with the characters. When she returns to the beginning of the story, the reader gets to see the chase begin, and what a chase it is. The tireless pursuit of Camile by Warren is funny and romantic and will win over the readers. There are so many beautiful moments between the two, leaving the fall inevitable. Because the reader is so invested in them as couple, the conflict of this story is particularly gut-wrenching. It hurts, and it feels like your heart has been decimated with the characters. But don’t fret, Calire Contreras will not fail you. She crafts a conclusion that resolves their conflicts, gives them a happy ending, and will suffuse your heart with the warmth that only a fitting HEA can provide.
I always love when romances provide a great story, but are laced with themes that are just applicable to life. The whole idea of chasing moments is gorgeous and beautiful, and I found myself highlighting almost every single line that had this idea in it. I just fell in love with this idea of living, fighting, and sacrificing for the moments that matter
My only complaint for this book is that it ended. I don’t want to leave them, and even though the story is wrapped up, I still want more. I often find that this is always the case with Claire Contreras’s works. Her characters and stories burrow their way into my heart, and I find that I’m altered when it’s over, and this story is no different. Without question you should be one-clicking The Player and chasing moments! You absolutely will not regret one single second spent on her words, these characters, and their story.
I’m naturally gifted on the field and between the sheets. With flashy cars and enough media attention to put the Royal Family to shame, I’m the definition of Most Eligible Bachelor.
Every man wants to be me and every woman wants to tame me. Until Camila.
The moment I lay eyes on her, I know I have to have her.
She wants to keep me at arm’s length.
I want her naked in my bed.
She thinks our worlds are too different.
All I want her to think about is screaming my name.
She says I’m bad news.
I have three weeks to prove her wrong.

“Are you upset I crashed your friend-date?” he asked, his eyes searching mine.
“Would it make a difference?”
“No.” He sighed, running a hand through his hair. “Maybe. This is new territory for me, Camila.”
“The stalking thing?” I asked, smiling at his flustered look.
“That and . . .” he shook his head, moving close to me again, pressing me flat against the wall behind me, “this.”
His free hand traveled down my spine, stopping on my ass, which he grabbed a handful of this time. My lips parted as I gasped, watching the way his eyes darkened. Our lips met at the same time, our tongues crashing in each other’s mouths in a wild escapade. I wrapped my arms around his neck, willing myself closer to him. My pelvis rocking against his very pronounced erection, my bare chest covered by only the thin layer of fabric brushing against the buttons of his hard muscled chest.
“You’re killing me,” he whispered against my lips, taking hold of both sides of my face. “You’re fucking killing me and you don’t even know it.”
The fire inside me spread through me, roaring through my veins with each touch, each drop of his lips on a different part of me, my shoulders, my neck, my collarbone. My stomach ached with the absolute need I felt for him.
“I don’t want to want you this much,” I whispered when our lips broke apart again.
His eyes searched mine, his gaze softening. “But you do.”
“But I do.”
“And you can’t will the feeling away.”
I shook my head, looking at him as if he was going to give me some kind of antidote for this. Whatever this was.
“Neither can I,” he said, placing his forehead against mine. “Neither can I.”
