BASTARD BACHELOR SOCIETY
The Bachelor Club #1
By Sara Ney
Release Date: January 28
4 I Want A Nan Crowns
I love Sara Ney, I’ve been obsessed since her Douchebag series which I still to this day periodically reread, love those boys to the moon!! Suffice it to say I was super excited to get my hands on her new book. Thus when I got this copy I jumped right in and read straight through until the end.
At first I had no idea what was going on, you are thrown into what feels like the middle of a story. But as I read through it was making more and more sense as to what was happening. I honestly had no idea what to expect I couldn’t really get a feel for what kind of story we were getting based off the teasers, I don’t like to assume anything.
I avert my eyes, because never make eye contact while deep-throating a banana.
So, at first I did not like Brooks, in the opening scenes he really felt like a genuine bastard which I guess was the whole point, and was definitely achieved. I did not start liking him until he met Abbott and then I started seeing things about him that didn’t make me want to throw my Kindle.
“A cat. Right.” I side-eye the beast suspiciously, glued to my spot in the narrow entrance. “But why does it have laser beams coming from its beady eyes?” It hasn’t blinked once, I’m sure of it.
His and Abbotts chemistry and immediate connection brought everything together and pushed the book into a whole new light for me. They are both witty and smart, and feed off each other perfectly. They fall into an easy friendship, and everything just sort of happens organically which I love. It never felt forced between them, you could just tell and feel through the pages how much they enjoyed each other’s company.
This cat isn’t fucking around. It’s out to get me. “Can I call it Lucifer instead of Desi?” “No!” “Captain McPussyPants?” “Oh my God. No.” “How about Desi McTerrorPuss?”
But let me tell you Nan stole the show. I freaking love her and want one of my own. This lady grabs life by the balls and doesn’t let anyone or anything get in her way. And I loved every single moment with her in it! This lady is one fiery, sassy grandma that you will most assuredly want to take home.
“She might be seventy-five, but she kept the wine flowing like a lady boss.” Like a sorority girl with an unlimited bar tab.
Sara brought to life a different kind of douchebag with this new series. It may not have been my favorite of hers, because Zeke and Rhett hold special places in my heart. But I fell in love with the couple in this story, there wasn’t a lot of angst which is nice sometimes you don’t want a story that keeps your stomach tied up in knots just waiting to see. Sometimes you want and easy read that will make you laugh and leave you happy. And this one will do that for you!
I voluntarily read and advance complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
What is the Bastard Bachelor Society? It’s a gentleman’s club—like the dignified men of the past used to have. Except, we’re not gentleman, and we’re not dignified. We’re ineligible bachelors; bored, jaded and not looking for relationships. Quite the opposite actually… We’re so committed to being single, we’ve created a high stakes bet to see who can remain single the longest. Rules are involved. Prizes. Laugh it up, but I’m no loser. Enemy number one to my single status? My irresistible neighbor, Abbott Margolis. She with her evil cat Desdemona, and Sexy AF pencil skirts. She’s kind and beautiful and hilarious. We can’t get involved, no matter how much her meddling grandmother pushes us together. But if I was going to loose this bet for anyone? It would for Abbott. Let’s face facts: I’m a bastard, unwilling to settle down. Especially when there’s a bet to win.
