Aundi’s Musings…

5 Forbiddingly Taboo Crowns

This book is next level Taboo so if you take the chance on it, please read the warnings involved. K puts it all out there with this story and it will definitely shove you straight out of your comfort zone. I’m not going to lie I was a little nervous going into this. I read the warnings and thought, I’m not sure this is for me. Not only that but I thought if I liked it that would say something about me as well. But I decided to chance it and keep an open mind while reading this, saying screw it to societal norms and pushing my limits to the max. You should never let other’s opinions dictate what you will or won’t read based on the content, I almost did and I’m so glad I took the chance.

In my world, I exist alone, surrounded by people. A nightmare. A paradox. A harsh sentencing for a crime I didn’t commit.

Rylie has dealt with depression and bi-polar disorder her whole life. She hasn’t spent much of her time happy; her bi-polar disorder is strong and causes her to be in a perpetual state of sadness. This girl broke my heart, she was just trying to feel and be normal and it just wasn’t in the cards for her. She was fighting her feelings and her dark depraved thoughts which spiraled her into her depression. And then she lost the two people that were there for her trying to help her through her sickness.

“We found a cure. We’re not sick anymore,” I tell him. “Don’t you feel it?”

Hudson has a lot on his plate he’s playing baseball and going to college while also working. And he must do all this and try to maintain his scholarship. He doesn’t know what his sister has been feeling or going through. He just assumes she’s making it up or not trying harder to be happy. And when they lose their parent’s its then that he realizes that she truly is sick. They are bonded to their very souls through the loss of their parent’s. And their loss causes more deep feelings to arise, they need each other more than he ever thought. They are each other’s solace and home.

Our love, no matter how sick it seems to others, is a cure.

K. Websters writing is flawless with this book. She has this way of making you connect to each and every one of her characters and drawing you into her storylines. She is not afraid to go to those places that other’s shy away from and she makes no apologies for it, I love this about her. This book is designed to bring you out of your comfort zone and test your limits. Yes, this book is taboo. Yes, it’s not for everyone. Yes, it will take you on a journey you might not be ready for. But it is a freaking fantastically dirty ride if you give it a chance.

Blurb:

He’s my everything.
I would die without him.

Because he infects me.
My brother.
He’s inside my mind.
My thoughts are black and bruised.
Twisted and wrong.
A secret that eats me alive, but one I’ll take to my grave.

And then it happens.
He sees inside me.
Understands the darkness.
Loves what he finds.

I’m contagious.

It’s true.
Now, he’s sick too.

Warning:
This book is an epic, emotional, raw love story…
between a brother and sister.
Many won’t be able to handle that.
But if I don’t tell their story, who else will?
