Aundi’s Musings…
4 Master Crowns
This was my first book by Keri and not at all what I was expecting, this story took a dark twisted turn that leaves you wondering what’s real and what’s not. I loved the unexpected nature of the story and that you don’t really know who to believe or trust while reading it. It gives it a different kind of dimension than books I’ve read of late and more of a thriller feel.
Something devilish. Dangerous. A duality that exists within him, like two personalities trapped in one, body vying for control. I felt it when he kissed me, the shift from desolation to aggression, ferocity, an animal waking from its slumber.
Both Isa and Lucian have very dark pasts that slowly unfold as the story progresses. The layers that Keri has woven through this story are so intricately laced and done with such precision. That as you go along you don’t really know what’s happening. It leaves you tangled up in knots trying to figure out what is really going on underneath all these rumors and gossip. And with each new revelation you start to truly see how small-minded people with nothing but gossip can really warp the truth of a story. Your heart bleeds for Lucian and Isa because of all they’ve had to endure of the years. Especially Lucian, by the end I was so twisted with each new truth my heart physically ached for him. I couldn’t believe what was happening.
The intensity staring back at me through the holes in his mask is nearly sex itself. Never has a man looked at me this way, with such possession.
Keri has created a truly dark tantalizing thriller laced with such tension between Isa and Lucian you can feel it burn from the pages. The visceral connection between them draws you further into the craziness that is this story and makes you heat from the inside out. Once you start you are immediately transported into Keri’s creation completely engulfed by the story and the characters within. I may not have been prepared for what this story was, but I loved it.

Synopsis:
When I was a little girl, I dreamed a handsome knight would come and rescue me from my wretched mother. He’d ride up on his white steed and break the curse I’ve been fated to carry since the day I was born.
Funny how things changed over time. How the fairy tale twisted into something far more crooked, darker than I ever imagined.
In reality, my knight is scarred and broken, living alone in a castle of bones that overlooks the sea. He isn’t searching for me. He never was.
Lucian Blackthorne is as cursed as I am, and equally shunned by the locals, the fishers of men, who believe him to be the devil in the flesh.
Perhaps he is, with the way his amber eyes draw me in, ignite me like an infernal blaze. And the sins he whispers in my ear are as wickedly intoxicating as the man himself.
Yet, his touch is heaven and his will is my weakness.
He calls us forbidden, an unsalvageable tragedy, with no happy end. Maybe we are. But in this story, he’s the one who needs saving.
