A Standalone Contemporary Romance
New York Times Bestselling Authors Penelope Ward & Vi Keeland
5 Great Adventure Crowns
This book is absolute PERFECTION, Penelope and Vi have crafted a delightfully charming slow-burn RomCom that will leave a permanent smile on your face. This book is exactly what I needed, and I loved every second of this quirky romance. From the moment you meet the characters you can’t help but fall in love with them. Maddie and Milo will take you on quite an unexpected adventure.
How could one night—a few hours with a random stranger—make me feel more alive than I’d felt over the last few years with a man I supposedly loved?
Hazel AKA Maddie was at a time in her life where she wasn’t really sure what she wanted and who she even was anymore. She had grown up a certain way and in trying not to be like her parents she turned herself into someone she didn’t recognize. But during this time, she found the spark to try and figure out exactly what she wanted, and in finding that spark she found the perfect partner to go with her. I loved Hazels free spirit even when she didn’t know who she was anymore; you could see it simmering beneath the surface dying to break free.
“You were looking at my face in the midst of all that?”
“Yeah, I look at your face a lot,” he muttered. “Habit I guess.”
Matteo AKA Milo had me swooning all over the damn place. This man is literally the whole package and I could not get enough of him. He constantly made sure Hazel was okay and became super protective of her from the very start. I loved that their connection was so strong from the beginning, from the first time they sat down and talked you could feel the strength of it pour from the pages, you knew they were something special.
“In case you’re wondering, I got my favorite souvenir in Atlanta. Take care, Milo”
The chemistry between these two can be physically felt through the pages. And as more time goes on you can feel it growing and growing as each new experience happens and each page is turned until your literal ball of pent up tension that desperately needs to be released. Slow burn romances always leave me with blue balls and this book is no different. I was begging them to give in so many times while reading, but dammit they just didn’t listen.
His expression softened a bit. “It feels so weird to hear you say my name. But it sounds fucking beautiful, too.”
Ultimately, I feel that this is a story about self-discovery and how fate works in mysterious ways. You never know why things happen but maybe just maybe it is part of a bigger plan that you are unaware of. This is the type of story where from the start you are in their corner cheering them on, you want their Happily Ever After more than anything and Penelope and Vi don’t disappoint.
My Favorite Souvenir was good. I enjoyed it, but it didn’t knock my socks off. Did I enjoy it? Yeah. Is the writing solid? Absolutely. Are the characters likable? Yup. For whatever reason, though, I didn’t connect with this story.
I loved the premise of the book. It is original. I haven’t read a plot line like it, and those parts of the book are really great and fun. It really allows you fall in love with them as a couple before the conflict arrives. The conflict was unexpected, and I did like how it was handle by the couple.
Overall, it was a entertaining, fun and romantic. For whatever reason it wasn’t a “I can’t put this book down” for me, which their books normally are. Still a recommendation.
My planned trip for two unexpectedly turned into a trip for one. Rather than let my breakup get me down, I packed my bags and decided a week at a luxury resort was just what I needed.
But one calamity after the next, and suddenly I was stuck without a hotel room, along with a few hundred other people.
It looked like my fancy vacation was about to turn into me sleeping on the hotel lobby floor.
Until I overheard a gorgeous man pretending to be someone he wasn’t in order to steal a reservation from a guest who hadn’t shown up yet.
When I realized there were two rooms, instead of calling him out, I pretended to be his sister. That’s how the story of “Milo and Maddie Hooker” began.
We were the Hookers.
My depressing trip quickly made a U-turn into an adventure.
My fake brother spent the next few days showing me around his hometown. When it was time to leave, neither of us really wanted to go yet.
So, instead of flying back to our respective homes, we ventured on a road trip.
At every stop, we’d pick up souvenirs.
But as hot as our chemistry was, we never crossed the line.
Milo knew I’d just come out of a tough relationship and didn’t want to mess with a vulnerable woman.
So instead, at the end of our trip, we made a pact to meet again in three months.
It was always my intention to meet him.
But when I got back home, reality hit in a big way.
And I worried I may have lost my handsome stranger forever.
Was there a place for him in my future?
Or had the memory of him just become my favorite souvenir?
