Revenge At Raleigh High by Callie Hart

Raleigh Rebels Series – Book Two

Tricia’s Musings…

5 crowns

Revenge at Raleigh High is the second book in this series and cannot be read as a stand-alone. Following the events of the previous book, I couldn’t wait to find out what would happen next. Once the dust had settled, I was pleased to see that Alex and Silver, whilst not completely unscathed, were still standing strong together in the aftermath of the school tragedy. In fact, their shared experiences seemed to have cemented their bond even more, if that were possible.

The first part of the book was not at all what I was expecting. It’s so incredibly hot; steamy with a side of kink. I’m not sure of the psychology behind it but maybe it’s because of the trauma of past events, and the fact that they came so close to death, but these two clearly feel the need to explore their sexuality in a rather taboo way and to a far greater degree than I would have predicted. It certainly distracted me from thoughts of revenge for a while.

As the story unfolds, we finally get the full heartbreaking facts of what both Alex, and in particular Silver, have gone through and believe me, it’s a lot. It’s testament to their strength of character that they survived at all. Once again Silver’s father is a great support and I love his interactions and the banter he shares with both of them. He’s a lovely dad, but what was supposed to be a rather serious attempt to bring someone to justice had me chuckling when he started jumping at his own shadow, clearly in over his head. We are also introduced to a rather unfathomable and slightly odd character by the name of Zander. I’m more than a little curious as to what’s going on with him. I’m really hoping his cheery disposition hides something more sinister underneath.

I would describe this story as a slow build up to an explosive conclusion. It played out in a way which I could not possibly have imagined and I loved it. It’s dark and very violent, edge of your seat stuff, and most definitely not for the faint of heart. Don’t say I didn’t warn you!

Musings…

5 Vengeful CROWNS

This book starts right where the last one left off. Callie has created such an intriguing story with character’s that you can’t help but love and others you just want to strangle. Alex and Silver’s story is magical they are so beautifully broken together I can stand it. One of the biggest surprises in this was Cameron Sliver’s dad. I absolutely adored him and his relationship with Silver.

“I belong to him now, the same way that he belongs to me. We’re connected, sealed together, so immersed in each other that some days I’m a little intimidated by how in tune we are. Cut one of us and the other bleeds.”

Callie has written a story filled with emotion that brings to light the darker side of bullying. During some of Silver’s flashbacks they were a little hard to read. They tore my heart out and brought me to tears. But they were so necessary for this story. Callie wrote it so beautifully you could feel exactly how Silver felt when she was going through her trauma. The truth in the words she’s written will bring you to your knees. But to watch Silver work through her trauma and find her strength is awe inspiring.

“All I know is that both my body and my soul are on fire and any moment now I’m going to be lost to the flames. “Let go,” Alex rumbles into my hair. “Stop holding back. Give me everything, Argento. Let me have it.”

The soul searing connection between Alex and Silver is legit fire. Their passion can be felt through the pages and you can truly feel that they love each other. Alex helped Silver work through her trauma and show her that she is still that strong person she was before. His Alpha tendencies and the way he avenges her is so damn sexy and I love that he talks to her in Italian insert all the swoons. These two were perfection from the start and I can’t wait to see what happens next.

“Silver’s father rolls his eyes, exasperated. “For the love of god, don’t call me Sir, Moretti. That sounds absolutely fucking ridiculous. Just call me Cam, for Christ’ sake.”

Cam was the best surprise in this book. I loved that we got see more of him and really see what kind of dad he is. He is understandably crushed when he finds out what happened to Silver and the way he wants to take care of the situation was the hottest thing. I may have developed a huge crush on him in this book. As a parent you can relate to his feelings of hopelessness, and anger that brings a whole new layer to this story. He is funny and completely endearing I literally love everything about his character, and I hope he get’s a HEA in the next book.

“I know you fucking want me, Argento. You’re mine to play with. Mine to tease. Mine to drive crazy with the simplest suggestion of a kiss.”

I loved this story so much. It brought many real-life issues to life that many people just want to sweep under the rug. I love the direction that all the characters took and how far they’ve come from book one. The chemistry between Alex and Silver was absolute fire and her relationship with her dad will tug at your heartstrings. The rate at which Alex matures will make your heart skip a beat. These books need to be read by all, you will not be disappointed.
