Sarah’s Musings…

I absolutely loved every single moment of this story. Quinn and Graham are second chance romance goals, with equal parts heart and steam.

First, I love a female rockstar. I’m sure there are others out there, but she is my first and I love Quinn. She has heart, and Devney Perry does a phenomenal job showing her character motivation and reasons for choices she makes. I felt for this heroine and am happy she grabs her HEA, living on her own terms.

Graham is single dad goals. I love him, too, and seeing him with his son just adds to his allure. Even when he is being a jerk at times in the beginning, it is understandable as he is protecting his heart.

These two are explosive together, and Perry wrote some hot scenes with these two. They have chemistry in spades, in and out of the bedroom. I also love their journey to their HEA and Nixon’s involvement with it all.

Overall, Rifts and Refrains was a new perspective on the Rockstar Romance, and I loved every single minute of this second chance romance.

Aundi’s Musings…

5 Torchlight Crowns

Oh. My. God. I was not prepared for this book, Devney has captured my heart and soul with this story. I was instantly enamored with this whole world the second I started and could not put this book down until I was finished. The heart wrenching emotions that Devney pulled from me from the first page were so intense I didn’t know what to do. I sat there in my feelings throughout the whole book wondering if I was going to be able to finish because my heart hurt so much. But I’m so freaking glad I did, because this story stole a piece of me.

Okay so full disclosure I did not read the first book in this series and I am so mad at myself right now. But having said that I still fell into this book effortlessly. I was completely wrapped up in the characters and what they were going through. Devney has a way with words that can reach inside you and pull any and every feeling possible from you. I cried so many times while reading this story because so much of it touched my heart and I could feel the anguish and loneliness pouring from the pages.

Quinn and Graham were absolutely flawless together. From the second they shared a page you could feel the tension and hurt bleeding from the pages, it felt like you are being sliced open and every single thing is pouring from you onto the floor, with no way of stopping the hemorrhage. Instantly I knew that these two were going to own me, and watching as their story past and present came together is soul searing. Every moment of this book held me in its grasp, it felt like there was a vice grip around my heart and every page twisted and twisted until it felt like I couldn’t breathe through all the emotions.

I love reading a book that has me captivated from the start and has the ability to render me speechless with the layers of emotions it contrives. This book did that to me tenfold. I simply could not read it fast enough, Devney has created something so perfect that I will not hesitate to recommend this to everyone. The characters, the connections, the heartache, and loss, the forgiveness that is found; all of it was too much and not enough at the same time. If I could give this book more than 5 stars I would; if you love second chance romances that will make you feel as if you’re bleeding out from the angst than this book is for you.

Rifts and Refrains (Hush Note Book 2) by [Devney Perry]

From USA Today Bestselling Author Devney Perry comes a single dad, second chance rock star romance.

From the moment Quinn Montgomery sat behind her first snare and cymbal set, she was destined for fame and glory. As Hush Note’s infamous female drummer, she sets the rhythm for the band’s chart-toppings hits. When people tap their feet to their music, it’s to her pulse.

Quinn is content to live in a world away from her family and the cage of her youth. Her only regret is leaving Graham Hayes behind without a goodbye. No matter how many sold-out stadiums she plays, no matter how many crowds sing her songs, his voice haunts her when the music stops.

When a family tragedy forces her to return home to Montana, she plans to leave the second she’s paid her respects. But seeing Graham again turns her life upside down. As a boy, he wasn’t able to make her stay. As a man, he might be her future.

If they can mend their rifts and find solace in the refrains.

She took one step before stopping. A smile tugged at the corner of her mouth, the same corner I’d kissed earlier, and I fought the urge to stand and capture that mouth again. Her smile broadened, though there was pain in her eyes.

“Colin is a cool kid. You’re a good dad, Graham. I always knew you would be.”

She might as well have stabbed me in the chest.

“Thanks,” I said, watching as she walked away.

Fuck me.

When had I never loved that woman?

Maybe that kiss had woken me up. Maybe it had made me realize how goddamn lonely I’d been without her. I had Colin, but there was a corner of my heart that would always belong to Quinn.

I should have followed her nine years ago.

Because now it was too late.
