Pawn, the highly-anticipated conclusion to The Pawn Duet from USA Today bestselling author T.M. Frazier, is available now!
4 love is the only truth that matters CROWNS
Pawn jumps straight back into the story from where Pike left off, as Mickey pushes forward with her plans for revenge.
I guess because of the storyline, its premise, the romance and relationship between Mickey and Pike was inevitably going to take a back seat to the revenge once Mickey made the decision to return to the compound. Although they made the most of getting together wherever and whenever the opportunity presented itself, (cue hot and heavy scenes), nevertheless overall I did feel there was a disconnect between this couple. There was a certain lack of communication but for me, although frustrating at times, it fitted the story and didn’t drag on. I love a suspenseful read and I loved that side of this story with its several shocking revelations and bomb shell moments that I did not see coming.
The business of revenge is a serious one but I loved the contrast between the unexpected and lighthearted, albeit irreverent, humor, courtesy of Preppy and Nine and the heavier topics in the book. A little light relief in the midst of all the mayhem. I think the world was a different place when the author first plotted this story and the fact that it ended up being rather relevant to current events must have proved to be an unexpected challenge. A challenge which, by showing us the conclusions Mickey comes to and the toll it takes on her, I believe Ms Frazier more than rose to. Mickey’s realisation about her motives for revenge, that payback in itself wasn’t enough, was thought provoking, really well thought out and well executed.
This story certainly didn’t take the direction I expected it to and I enjoyed it all the more because of that. I love these visits to Logan Beach, to have the opportunity to explore new stories with new couples and to catch up with more familiar residents from this series. I really hope this isn’t the last we see of this motley crew.
4 You’re My Constant CrownsT.M Frazier has crafted a Mind-Blowing one of a kind read that is laced with pure grit and raw determination. Pike and Mickey are caught in between The World and The Reich, with no idea how to come out of this situation not only alive but together. I loved Every. Single. Second of this fast paced Romance that is guaranteed to leave you breathless.
But promises are the sweetest lies.
This book is rife with all the twist and turns that you can handle. Bringing the story full circle, and telling of how The Reich came to be. T.M Frazier will have you braced on the edge of your seat, with your heart racing and your pulse humming, just waiting to see what’s going to happen next. And with every new revelation she will have your stomach in knots just twisting and twisting until you can’t take anymore just waiting for the EPIC conclusion to this duet.
Pike looks and smells like a woman’s version of a wet dream.
This book had me falling more in love with Pike with his unyielding loyalty and complete selflessness and Mickey for her resolve and utter dedication. Their love story isn’t pretty, it’s not hearts and rainbows. It’s real and raw filled with passion, opposition and unrelenting hunger. The pure possessiveness that pours off Pike during this book brings a whole new layer and heat to this story. You can feel that possession and need seep from the pages every time they are in the same room, it coats every ounce of space around them filling and growing fueling the need within him to claim and own Mickey for him and him alone. It’s enough to set your Kindle a flame with the intensity of it and was one of my favorite things about this book. It really cemented their connection for me, tethering them together in the catastrophic storm they are fighting.
My war has a bigger meaning. A bigger purpose. And that purpose isn’t just revenge. It’s humanity.
I think T.M handled the delicacy of this story with grace and fortitude, it took a lot of courage to complete this book in the times we are currently facing and with such precision and honesty. This story ended up being so much more than I had anticipated, it isn’t just a love story, it’s a story of redemption, understanding, and acceptance. It’s a story that leaves you with something to think about and tackles things prevalent today. This is the perfect conclusion to this heart stopping duet!!

I really did enjoy the second book in the duet much more than book one. The physical connection between Pike and Mickey was fire, Preppy moments are always comedic and hilarious, and it had really good themes and topics.
Pike is a really great guy, and I think that is why I always love a Frazier hero. They are rough and tumble and criminal, for the most part, but they have hearts and love fiercely. Pike has so many great and caring qualities.
Mickey is a good heroine. She is resolute in her beliefs, but always has the ability to learn and change and evolve. She is good representation of how even when you are so smart, you still can learn.
There is a side character introduced who I really ended up loving and I would enjoy getting his HEA. (No spoilers so the name is withheld)
Here is where it fell apart a bit for me. Parts of plot, important parts, were rushed. I would have loved to see these big moments fleshed out, see the plan fall into place, the group of people working together. Three characters in particular are parts of the plan but we don’t see them actually plan or be a part of the anything. It all just felt rushed. I wanted more details, more story.
Overall, this is a good duet. I’m a huge fan of the world, I loved Mickey and Pike, and the story had really good messages about racism and evolution of thought.
***as a side note, there were major consistency issues in the ARC. Please note this is an ARC, so they may have been fixed in the final published copy and IT DID NOT AFFECT MY REVIEW OF THE BOOK. My review focuses on the story of the book, character development, etc.
My life is on the line.
I’m trapped both physically and emotionally. A pawn in a game I didn’t know I was playing.
Until I met him.
Pike acts without emotion, but I know he feels something for me.
I see it in his eyes when he looks at me. I feel it when he’s close.
I know it’s real because I feel it too.
It complicates everything.
I know that I’m part of Pike’s plan for revenge.
He doesn’t know he’s part of mine.

I was raised by the violent laws of the streets, spilling blood without the hindrance of useless emotions or connections.
Unfeeling. Unloved. Alone.
My life was perfect.
While on a manhunt for a mysterious enemy, one hellbent on taking both my business and my life, I find Mickey. She’s covered in mud, rambling nonsense, and clearly out of her mind.
She’s also a distraction I don’t need.
That is until I discover a connection between the girl and my enemy.
Mickey isn’t a distraction anymore.
She’s the perfect weapon.
One I’ll use to exact my revenge.
The plan is an easy one, but there’s something about Mickey that’s making it more and more difficult.
A familiarity I can’t place. A need I can’t explain.
A want I have to deny.
After all, she’s not mine to keep. She’s a tool. My pawn.

Pike bends me over the sink. I grip the edge to prevent falling face-first against the porcelain. I glance up at him through the mirror to where he’s standing behind me, appraising my body with fierce heat in his fiery eyes. He molds his body against mine. I close my eyes at the sensation I’ve been dreaming about feeling since the last time I saw him. I relish in his scent, his heat.“Open your eyes, Mic,” he orders. “I want you to see this. To see us.”My only response is a whimper. I have no words.Only need.As ordered, I open my eyes.Pike grazes the back of my neck with his lips. “I want to see your reaction in the mirror as you take my cock. I want you to see mine as I give it to you. I’m not just going to fuck you. This is a message. One I want you to hear loud and fucking clear so that there will be no more misunderstandings between us.” He reaches between my legs under my skirt, cupping my pussy over my damp panties.I push back against him with a loud groan. Pike holds me in place, pushing my panties down my legs before resuming his touch, this time against bare and soaking wet flesh. He groans when he feels what’s waiting for him. “
“This belongs to me.” He wraps an arm around my shoulder, closing a hand over my throat, biting at my earlobe. His next words are both a statement and a warning, delivered while the shaft of his thick cock presses against the cleft of my ass. “You. Belong. To. Me.”
About T.M. Frazier:
T.M. (Tracey Marie) Frazier never dreamed that a single person would ever read a word she wrote when she published her first book. Now, she is a five-time USA Today bestselling author and her books have been translated into numerous languages and published all around the world
T.M. enjoys writing what she calls ‘sexy wrong side of the tracks romance’ with morally corrupt anti-heroes and ballsy heroines. Her books have been described as raw, dark and gritty. Basically, what that means, is while some authors are great at describing a flower as it blooms, T.M. is better at describing it in the final stages of decay. She loves meeting her readers, but if you see her at an event please don’t pinch her because she’s not ready to wake up from this amazing dream.
