The Romantic Pact by Meghan Quinn – REVIEW – – The Banker & The Book Nerd

5 Road Trip Crowns

I love Meghan Quinn; her books never cease to put a huge smile on my face and make me laugh out loud at the characters. This book was wonderfully unexpected and had my cheeks hurting from the perma smile it induced. I legit could not put it down needing to know what Crew and Hazel were going to get up to next and I’m so glad that I did because these two were delightful.

Crew was beautifully lost and tragically sad. He lost an important person in his life and ever since he’s been floating through just trying to keep his head above water. And then when he least expects it he gets a wonderful surprise that is guaranteed to bring tears to your eyes. So much of this story was about finding your way in life and learning that maybe what we thought we wanted all along was not actually what we needed and that’s more important. The lessons learned throughout and the unyielding connections between not only Hazel and Crew but them and his grandpa are heart wrenching but at the same time soul healing. This book has so much heart and loss but also forgiveness and acceptance, it will have your entire being thrust into multiple stages of emotions that you can’t even being to articulate.

Hazel is a powerhouse of a woman, she’s strong and independent, loyal and honest, funny and endearing. Whilst being this beautiful soul who just wants to find her place in this world. I loved how easy and instant her connection was to Crew, they had a lifetime of memories to solidify their relationship in the best way. I died for their banter and how effortlessly they played off each other. You could tell that they had this passion for each other that neither wanted to acknowledge because that meant changing the entire dynamic of their relationship.

Meghan always seems to write these stories that pull you in and keep you utterly entertained throughout. Her seamless balance between funny and heartwarming are what keeps you coming back for more. I always know when that I’m going to get the best of both worlds when reading a Meghan Quinn book and this one did not disappoint. The characters and connections will burrow their way into your heart and soul leaving you with a sense of calm and understanding. I loved Crew and Hazel, everything about them was perfection, only Meghan can bring a smile to my face while also tears to my eyes it’s the best kind of contradiction and you don’t want to miss out.

The Romantic Pact by [Meghan Quinn]

I haven’t seen her in three years.

I haven’t talked to her since the kiss.

So why am I on a plane, flying across the world to spend a week with her in Germany?

One word: Pops.

My life’s a mess.
My possible football career is hanging on by a thread.
I’m driving the roads of Germany in honor of Pops with the one girl I can never have.
And I’m sharing a bed with her, the girl I’ve measured everyone else up to, while desperately trying to not to touch her.

We made a pact growing up, never to get romantic with each other – never fall in love.

And I’m about to break that pact. For good.
