Aundi’s Musings…

4 Who Needs A Label Crowns

So I’m not going to lie when I first started it took me a couple chapters to really submerse myself in the story but once I did there was no coming out until I was done. It begins in a very traditional way for those in love with NA romances, lots of super-hot jocks both hockey and swim (wink wink) best friends who want more and throw in a hot coach to really set this book on fire.

This could easily be labeled as just a RH, but it turns into something so much more. What I found I liked the most was that everyone was confused and just trying to figure out what they were feeling. I think often times people are so caught up in labels, what they feel others do or don’t fall into. But what happens when you take the labels out of the equation? What happens when you let yourself just feel no matter who you have those feelings for?

This book centers around 4 main characters. Ashton the cocky swimmer who thrives on sarcasm and sweets. Mia his best friend who is incredibly smart, sassy and overall a sweetheart. Braydon the douche hockey player who actually has a really wonderful side he doesn’t show. And the coach Drew who is battling some internal demons that we’ve yet to learn what they are.

The realness that both Nikki and K. Webster brought out in these 4 characters was beyond anything I could have anticipated. You could feel the tension and confusion, the lust and need, the hurt and pain bleed from the pages. These characters are just trying to navigate through this time in their lives where they have all these conflicting feelings not really sure where to go or what to do with them. And that spoke to me. I think too often books really miss out on the part in all our lives where we are lost at one point or another for one reason or another, so it was very refreshing to read a book where that happened to not just one character but them all.

Each one of these characters is so different but at their core so very similar. As the story progresses you can see each and every relationship build and change into something transformed something that may be a little scary but something that each of them needs. I loved the changing dynamics and the emotional bonds that you could feel grow as you move through the book.

This story started one way for me but then ending with me completely at its mercy not wanting it to end. I can’t believe it’s a duet because I’m dying to see what happens after that cliffhanger that legit shattered my heart for the characters involved. While slowly becoming lost to the story I also became invested and I can’t wait for the conclusion to this.

I’ve spent the past three years in college terrorizing the dean, also known as my father.

I’m everything he hates.

Troublemaker.

Slacker.

Gay.

But I’m only getting started.

I’m about to make Dad really proud with my newest life choices…

I fall for my best friend, Mia, who’s a freaking chick.

I’m dying to make out with my enemy, dude bro Brayden.

And best of all, I want to bone my new roomie, Drew, who happens to also be the school’s new hockey coach.

Senior year’s great.

I’m still the world’s worst human.

I’ve made all the wrong decisions, and when Dad gets wind of my newest mess, he might actually disown me this time.

But I can’t stop.

I don’t want to stop.

In typical Ashton Carter fashion, I wreck my life in the worst possible way.

It isn’t until it’s all torn apart, I realize I have a problem.

Me.
