I have never read a Colleen Hoover book I have not enjoyed. Her stories are intricate, and her characters are so well developed they seem like real people. I am often sad to leave the world she has created, and often return to visit, even if it just to read the many excerpts I have highlighted. When her books are regularly $7.99, Slammed is a deal at $1.99
Fiercely independent Camille “Cami” Camlin gladly moved on from her childhood before it was over. She has held down a job since before she could drive, and moved into her own apartment after her freshman year of college. Now tending bar at The Red Door, Cami doesn’t have time for much else besides work and classes, until a trip to see her boyfriend is cancelled, leaving her with a first weekend off in almost a year.
Trenton Maddox was the king of Eastern State University, dating co-eds before he even graduated high school. His friends wanted to be him, and women wanted to tame him, but after a tragic accident turned his world upside down, Trenton leaves campus to come to grips with the crushing guilt.
Eighteen months later, Trenton is living at home with his widower father, and works full-time at a local tattoo parlor to help with the bills. Just when he thinks his life is returning to normal, he notices Cami sitting alone at a table at The Red.
As the baby sister of four rowdy brothers, Cami believes she’ll have no problem keeping her new friendship with Trenton Maddox strictly platonic. But when a Maddox boy falls in love, he loves forever—even if she is the only reason their already broken family could fall apart.

I, once again, have yet to read a Jamie McGuire Book, that, however, has not stopped me from buying many of her books. I am pretty sure I own 4, and pre-ordered the next book she is releasing. So why do I keep buying them, if I haven’t read her books? The synopsis of each book sounds fantastic and intrigues me, and I have heard wonderful reviews from people I respect and trust in regards to her writing. Their word, along with amazing synopses, gives me reason enough to but them, especially when they are on sale.
NYPD detective Seraphia Newsom will avenge her brother’s death at any cost. Even if it means insinuating herself into a rough, Brooklyn street gang and going so far undercover, she’s not sure she’ll be able to get out. Every minute she spends in their midst means the clock ticking down on her life, especially when she overhears something that could get her killed.
Bowen Driscol is the heir to a crime enterprise. He never asked for the job, but with his father behind bars, he has no choice but to step in and keep the operation running. But when the NYPD blackmails him with a piece of damning information in exchange for aiding an undercover cop, he finds himself on the other side of the law for the first time in his life.
Bowen knows the danger Sera is in, and keeping her safe trumps saving his own ass. The problem? She can’t know he’s on her side. And there’s the matter of the seriously inconvenient heat sparking between them that’s incinerating his resistance. But Sera only sees Bowen’s past, and men like him are the reason her brother is dead. If they’re to get out alive, he’ll have to risk exposing the man beneath, and hope to hell he doesn’t blow the whole operation in the process.

I have several series by Tessa Bailey, and each has been incredibly different. The one thing that is always the same is they are always fun. I’ve never walked away from one of her books feeling emotionally destroyed. Yes there are conflicts in her books, and they are serious, but they are not soul-destroying. And sometimes, a reader just wants a good, fun, and light-hearted book with some heat, and Tessa Bailey always delivers in this regard.
The first in the new SAINTS OF DENVER series from NYT bestselling author of the MARKED MEN series, Jay Crownover
Sometimes you have to tear everything down to build something new…
Sayer Cole is frozen inside. At least, that’s what it’s felt like for as long as she can remember. She’s yet to let anyone past her icy exterior – and the one guy she thinks might melt her heart couldn’t possibly be interested in someone so uptight.
Rough, hard and hot-as-hell, Zeb Fuller has rebuilt his life and his construction business since protecting his family sent him to jail all those years ago. His elegant client, Sayer, makes him feel like a Neanderthal in denim, but despite the many hints that he’s been dropping to get to know her better, she seems oblivious to his charms.
Just as things finally start to heat up, Zeb’s past comes back to haunt him and he needs Sayer’s professional help to right a wrong and to save more than himself. As these opposites dig in for the fight of their lives, fire and ice collide in an unstoppable explosion of steam…

The Saints of Denver series is a spin-off of the Marked Men series, so if you loved the first series, then these books are definitely for you. And, as a bonus, you get to see the original characters several times in the new series.
Built is the first book in her new series, and book two, Charged, just released (You can find my review and purchase link on my Reviews page). These books focus on broken, yet honorable, men and women. The reader just wants these characters to get their happy ending after such difficult lives. I know that I am a sucker for a broken character finally getting the HEA he or she deserves, so, for $1.99, this is a great deal.
