I just finished Man Candy a couple hours before composing this post, and I knew as soon as I completed the book that I wanted to feature this wonderful book, mainly for the relationship between Quinn and Jaime. Their relationship and chemistry made the entire book. The reader gets to see these two grow and evolve together realistically.
The reader has a fantastic hero who focuses on slowly breaking down walls while respecting the heroine’s space versus plowing through them. The reader has a heroine who recognizes her errors and works to fix them in order to make them stronger together. The other reason I really love this book is because I feel that it represents and accurate vision of marriage and relationships. So many times, particularly in romance, books focus on this idea that there is one person out the for you. Melanie Harlow, however, focuses on this idea that marriage is about choosing someone to complete the journey of life with. She recognizes that people change, and, as a result, some relationships don’t last. It was simply a refreshing take on relationships, especially in the world of romance.
I cannot recommend this book enough! If you haven’t bought it yet, then you definitely need to check it out. You can read my full review of the book on a previous post.
But I can’t resist.
The sex is incredible (pretty sure we’ve shaken the house right off its foundation), but he can’t fool me—not this time. A degree in marketing and five years in advertising have taught me that “true love” is a fairy tale used to sell lipstick, diamonds, and perfume. It doesn’t exist.
He thinks I’m wrong, and he wants to prove it.
I think he’s crazy, so I dare him to try.
It might be the biggest mistake of my life.
